We used wool for awhile, but eventually switched to disposables overnight. I have a son with sensitive skin who wears a layer of wool under his clothes for most of the winter, and it doesn't seem to bother him at all. I liked the disana covers that snap, I found I could get a nice fit over our prefold + hemp doubler.

If you're still interested in info about using wool as a diapering option, I wrote this blog post for work. I LOVE using wool - even on my most sensitive-skinned baby, Sloomb 100% merino wool has never caused any irritation - only dry sheets in the morning :)

I tried a million things, all different combos of inserts, fitted, wool and more and we just ended up wet all the time.

I wish i had skipped buying so many different things and gone right to overnight disposables. It's just one a night... do it.... it's so worth it.

Thirsties hemp insert + regular prefold + fleece liner (not necessary but think she feels drier/more comfortable), all under a regular diaper cover (I use Flips) has been working really well for me overnight. Sorry I don't have any input on wool, but thought this might be helpful.

Many things I didn't think about!

DD does have very sensitive skin - I hadn't considered that wool is itchy and aggravating!
I am going to try the GMD fitted with a PUL cover for now, and get some heavy duty inserts.

We have a few Grovia AI2s, which I didn't like originally, but now that she's bigger I may try them again.

Thanks everyone for you input!

My research on this turned up a ton of people recommending overnight bamboo fitteds (OBFs). We never ended up buying any since we had success with hemp inserts, but you might try those. (Also - I recommend Thirsties hemp inserts.)

We had this problem and my girl HATED fitteds, so wool didn't work for us.

What did work was a Grovia One diaper. That thing held sooo much. Also, a RAR with a bamboo 6r soaker (both pieces). We never had leaks with either of those. She leaked through disposables.

Figuring out how to cd overnight was just too much for me. Disposables for overnight worked much better. I also couldn't imagine sleeping in wool. So itchy!

What has worked for everyone I know is doing a fitted diaper (I like GMD workhorse) with a hemp insert (thirties is the best), and then either a PUL or wool cover. Most people can get by with a PUL. We use thirties duo. My friend who uses wool puts her daughter in a T shirt and sleep sack or the long version of wool covers.

I wanted to try wool for overnight, but wool makes me itchy, and sadly my daughter has the same issue. Fitteds with covers we already had were the answer for us.

Does anyone have experience with wool? My DD will be 4 mo old, and she is soaking through overnight. She's starting to sleep through the night, and I don't want to wake her for changes when we feed. We currently use Charlie Bananas, which are great during the day; but even double stuffing isn't helping. She leaks up the back, so I think it may be a flooding problem.
I don't want to try a bunch of different things, my research says that wool is best for the night.

So can anyone give me input?
Also, if I'm not supposed to cover the wool, what would she wear for pajamas, and a swaddle?
