Well, now I'm getting a swaddle strap too. We may just be trying everything out and seeing what works best.

We ended up doing a swaddle strap with a halo sleep swaddle over the top. (LO was a serious houdini - she broke out of the miracle blanket and the swaddle strap when it was just by itself). If the woombie works for you, that's great solution. LO haaaated it - putting her in it was like having a sack full of angry weasels.

@Jennimac: We loved our swaddle strap! We recently transitioned to a zipadee zip when we swaddle weaned, but we definitely got our money's worth with the swaddle strap. The woombie was too hot for my LO and it seemed really uncomfortable and tight.

I just ordered a woombie. It should get here by Thursday. Until then, @Mrs. Yoyo: I'm going to try that and see if that helps. Last night she actually slept for 3 hours in a row, which hasn't happened in a long time. Now if we can get her arms to stop waking her up, then we might get some sleep! (She woke up this morning with both arms up, like the Y in YMCA--silly girl!)

We had the same problem as you fr a while. Te woombie was nice because it's thin and stretchy, so she could push her fist to the top and push it up to her mouth to suck on it through the fabric. It only worked for a short time but it sounds like it could help you. I never tried the swaddle strap.

I feel you though- there was a while there where she desperately wanted her hand to suck on, but would startle herself awake multiple times without being swaddled.

I say go for it! We used it after LO started breaking out of the MB. I had neither the desire nor patience for double swaddling. Ain't nobody got time for that.

We used the woombie with LO until he got too big for it...then we moved to the Magic Sleep Suit. I thought the woombie was a godsend so I say go for it!!

Have you tried a double swaddle with an AA blanket and a swaddleme or sleep sack on top? Shouldn't be too hot and I used it to keep my LO swaddled until 6 months last time.

@swedishfish: we've tried a sleep sack, but she can't fall asleep because her arms and then wake her up. The reason for this post is that she woke up at 5, after fighting falling asleep from 9-2 am, because her fist was out. She wasn't hungry and when I got her swaddle back up, she was out pretty quickly. I'm just at my wit's end with her wake-ups and everything. .

I've heard great things about the Woombie...so much so that I bought 3 in anticipation of R's arrival. She hated them from the first time we tried them. Maybe you'll have better luck! We went straight to a regular sleep sack because R broke out of the nurses' swaddle in the hospital to get her hands near her face.

So, LO is 2 months old and breaking out of her miracle blanket swaddle. She breaks out of the swaddle me ones, too. I've tried putting one of top of the other, but it seems too hot for her. She loves to move that fist up to her face so she can suck on it. If I unswaddle her, she wakes herself up because she still has a strong Moro reflex. I'm trying to get more than 2-3 hours of sleep in a row before I go back to work off of maternity leave.

Which do you think I should get? Woombie or swaddle strap? Both? Something else?

Eta: reason for this post is in the second comment below. If you have any advice, please offer it up!
