DS had maybe 8 words at 15 months (including mama and dada)

30 words at 18 months

Now at 23 months he talks in 3-4 word sentences. It's crazy how fast they can learn language!

T has about 10 words at 15 months. His doctor said at his checkup last week that 7-20 is advanced, and I was surprised. His speech doesn't seem advanced to me but idk.

His words:
Dada
Mama
Na-Na (paci)
Bite bites
Eeka (Mickey)
No
Hey
Yeah

My daughter was talking quite a bit.. I don't know that exact age range but I remember by 18m she was definitely speaking in sentences (yanno, toddler ones, though.) She's very chatty though, and I know there is a huge range and your lo sounds totally normal to me too. I think most kids develop "unevenly," meaning they might be ahead socially or emotionally or verbally or physically, and toward the opposite end of the spectrum in another area. I wouldn't be worried at this point!

That's about the same or maybe more than what my LO was saying at that age. Then around 18 months or so, she started talking up a storm! She has new words every day now.

DD had very few words until about 18 months. I talked to my Ped at 15 months and she said language explodes between 1.5-2.5 years and she wasn't worried. DD language exploded from month 18-19 and now at 2y4m, she's a talker!

Just for reference, I worried about my lo's speech until 18-20 months when he took off like crazy. At 2.5 he will tell a whole story. I don't think you would need to worry at that age unless there were no words at all.

My 15.5 month old has about 60 words and some 2-3 word sentences and phrases. The pediatrician was floored at her 15 month appointment, so clearly it's not the norm. Her big sis was the same. No made up words really for either of my kids.

My daughter is 15 months and says "nuh" for milk even though she can make the "m" sound. I only know because she signs along with saying it! Her other words are mama, dada, no, ba (for ball and book),oh, yay, outside, cheese, uh-oh, hi, bye, pop, dog, baby, all done.

LO 2 had gross motor delays but she had a lot more words at the same age.

Everyone will be so diff. Dd has more words than DS did at 15 months and I thought he had a lot then.

She can say apple, hairbow, cracker, hi, bye, mama, dad, baby, ball, milk, more, dog, pop, bubbles, bath, night night, hat, book, Elmo, shoe...that's just what comes to mind. I feel like that's a pretty large vocabulary for a 15 month old.

My daughter had about 15 words at 14 months. I just looked up a Facebook post - here are the words she said then. Pretty similar to your LO. There is a wide range!

That sounds similar to what c was saying at that age. As far as made up words, I think some kids just do that more than others. For a long time cheese was "dah!", but now she says the real word. She can say doggie, but usually still calls dogs dodo. Raisins are meymeys. She just says weird things and once I know what she means she keeps using the word I think. She's pretty advanced in her language right now, so I just chalk it up to toddler weirdos. She is 22 m.

DD1 had a pretty similar vocab to what you are describing at that age - she'd say things like dada, mamai (mama), mum mum (milk), num num num (food), baby. With regard to the misplaced sounds....even at 3, DD1 has trouble with certain sounds in specific words - recently she's started saying "tajamas" for pajamas, even though I know she knows the word, and says "purple" perfectly. I think it's an ever changing thing and personally wouldn't stress too much :)

On made up words, DD2 is just past 12 months and says "ging ging" ALL. THE. TIME. We can't for the life of us figure out what it means - As far as the rest of her vocal, the words she says are so different from what DD1 said. Here's what she's saying now (roughly in the order of which she started saying them):
<DD1's name>
Dada
Wow
Hooray ("ray")
Look
Mama
Pappy
Nana
Grandma
Woof (dog)
Bubbles
Ball
I got it (just today - it's a little garbled but very clear....when she gets a toy or something she waves it in the air - I know this sounds all proud mama, but DH and my mom have all heard it and understood it!)

My DS is just over 14 months.

He says: mama, dada, duh-duh (pretty close to our dogs name!), shoes, Ayla (his friends name, lol), booooon for balloon and buh-buh for birdie. ...and he says gaga for doggie and gaga for ball.

Is this normal ish for what your child did? I know everyone is different! The main odd thing is "gaga" for ball. Not close at all and he can say "buh" sounds.

Just curious how others words were around this age! My doctor didn't say or ask anything at his 12 month appointment.
