@Mrs. Lion: @Snowjewelz I had been going to the library or Barnes and Noble but I lose an hour of my time driving there and back. Maybe I should just suck it up and leave the house since I could get 2 hours of uninterrupted time instead of 3 hours of people calling my name and asking me to make snacks.

I'd head to coffee shop/library too. DH doesn't work at home if DD is home either. Even if my mom doesn't call him for anything (and she won't), it's just too distracting.

I WAH and I agree with the others. Having a dedicated, closed space is a good start. After that, maybe set a schedule with him? Tell him you need two solid hours (or however much time) and you won't be available during that time.

can you go into a room and close the door? Make it so you are less accessible?

Do you have a separate space that you're working from? A home office or spare bedroom? I would just shut the door and tell him to pretend like you're not even there. My DH is equally terrible at multitasking.

I recently started working at home for my dad's business (data entry, accounting, etc). It is super part time and I am able to arrange my hours around DH's crazy schedule as a restaurant manager. I can get a little done during naptime, but I need that time to get dinner made and do chores most days. My preference is to work when DH is off during the day so they can have some one-on-one time and I don't have to worry about household stuff. So... DH is CONSTANTLY asking me to do stuff that he can take care of- "Can you change DD's diaper so I can go to the bathroom" (No, you can go to the bathroom and then change her yourself or vice versa), "Can you make DD's lunch while I make my lunch?" (No, just make them both at the same time like I do every single day), "Can you start the dryer?" (NO!). It is so frustrating and distracting. I know I'm not making a lot of money and that the schedule is flexible but I do need to concentrate during the hours that I have time to get this done. Also, if my dad's business takes off I will be able to turn this into a full time job with better pay.

Any tips on how to get DH to understand that this IS a job and I need to focus?
