Another bossy person would constantly write something along the lines of "please confirm you have received this email and are doing what I have said to do." This was at a very small organization where we could easily talk to one another face to face.</p> <p>One coworker kept her fake nails long and loved to tap very loudly on her keyboard. Stop!</p> <p>Ok, this has to be the worse--our graphic designer would sometimes pass gass and then ask someone to come over to look at something on his computer screen. He would try not to laugh. No indication of which patient they're calling about, why they're calling, etc. Nope. </p> <p>We have 3 hospitals, but our department administration is, of course, only located at one. So for our monthly staff meetings, we do video conference. We've been doing it since before I started, so well over a year. But EVERY MONTH, the meeting starts 5-10 minutes late because they can't get the thing set up correctly. And then the meeting runs late, and we have physician rounds on the floors right after the meeting, so we end up being late to rounds, which gets reported to upper management.... ridiculous.</p> <p>I think my biggest work place pet peeve, though, is martyrdom. I have coworkers who constantly complain that they're so busy, they're staying late, they're overwhelmed, etc. But they never ask for help, and they never accept my offer for help. I hate it when someone throws a partially full coffee into the garbage can under the work stations. I hate the smell of old coffee but also if it's my turn to change the garbage bag and the coffee spills on me. Also when he makes a phone call he hits speakerphone, dials the phone, listens to it ring, and only picks it up when the person on the other end picks up. It's interesting because it's only work calls - when he makes personal calls he talks really quietly, and every time I think "Oh, you DO have an indoor voice!"</p> <p>I also find it annoying, although it might be just me, when somebody calls me and starts out with "Hi, it's blahblah, how are you doing?" Did you call to chat? She always starts in with a story or a question, and WILL NOT cut the conversation short, even when I am in the act of walking away (I teach, and am often traveling with students, so I can't let them wander off unattended while I catch up on the details of coworker's weekend).
