I wanted to cloth diaper but the daycares we are looking at won't CD. I thought about CD'ing while at home but I hear you don't generate enough diapers and waste a lot of water since you still have to wash them every few days. DH and I are very sad about this and I'm even sadder to be taking off all those cute diapers off our registry :(

You could check into a diaper service as well, I know they will do all the laundering for you :)

Whew! We aren't taking LO to daycare....my mom will watch him during the day (3 days a week), and I will be at home the other 2 days (plus weekends), so I think/hope/pray we should be fine! I really do not want to use disposables. DH is on board as well, especially when I informed him of all the chemicals in diapers. He was really freaked out by it.

Are you taking you LO to daycare? Because some daycares don't allow for cloth diapering, only disposable.

I work full time, and we cloth diaper. Its not that much extra work doing laundry, you would do more laundry anyway becuase of the baby constantly making a mess. The only thing is our daycare doesnt accept cloth diapers so we only use it, evenings, weekends and days off

@ValentineMommy: Oh, then I'd say you're totally fine to CD.
Especially in the beginning when the poop can go straight into the wash and you don't have to rinse off the diaper, it's really not so bad.
IF, as @autumnlove mentioned, you have DH's support. It's definitely more work (especially if you need to troubleshoot any problems with odor or absorbency or staining), and I think that work needs to be shared or it can start to feel like a bigger burden than it should.

We wanted and planned to CD, but abandoned it when we went with a daycare center that wouldn't do it, and we found it wasn't worth it to try part-time.
I love my center, but they wouldn't consider CD-ing. (I think in-home centers are often more flexible about this, and larger centers are more hesitant)
We CD-ed (prefolds and covers) when LO was little and someone was home with him (through 12 weeks), and I'd do it again. However, we found it wasn't worth it to try to CD part-time once LO was in daycare... for us, it was really the issue that we were only using two cloth diapers a day during the week, but our pail would get REALLY stinky if we didn't wash every two days (or MAYBE three), and I hated the idea of having to do the wash every two days for four diapers. We probably could have figured out something to help with the stinkies, but honestly- while normal CD maintenance is something we could handle with our schedules- the last thing we wanted to have to deal with on weekends was spending forever stripping diapers and trying out different wash routines.
For some reason, we never had an issue with the prefolds and covers, but our Fuzzibunz and BGs definitely needed more troubleshooting than we were willing to invest in. Oh well.

Also, I wash every other day or about 3 times a week. I have a great front loader so I have it programed to do a prewash, heavy wash setting (for the extra water), and then an extra rinse at the end (so there is no buildup).

My husband and I both work full time. We were happy that our daycare center was willing to do cloth diapers.

We use pocket diapers. I would have liked to do Aio but they are more expensive and you need more of them because they take longer to dry.

We also use liners so daycare throws those away in the trash and all we have to do is dump the diapers in the wash.

We just have them leave all the mess and spray when we get home. I wash every other day. Now that he's potty training, we wash every 3 or 4 days.

I stay at home, but I'd cloth diaper even if I didn't. I don't do the crazy wash process, so it's really just another load of laundry every third day. It's pretty easy, honestly.

I work FT(at office and from home) and LO goes to daycare FT. We cloth diaper and daycare is ok with it...it is a lot work but doable with DH's support!

I'm not a mom yet, but we're due in January and planning to do CDing and both of us will be full-time WOHPs with baby in full-time daycare. We chose to do all-in-ones to make it as easy as possible for us and for our daycare provider. We liked the idea of the pockets, but it seemed like too much work to separate/stuff the inserts before/after laundry.

Subscribing to this, though, to see what other full-time WOHMs have to say.

Just wondering, of you that cloth diaper, how many of you work full time? Do you work full time out of the home?

Both DH and I work full time outside of the home. I really want to CD, but am worried about making this work (and all the laundry work) with us being out of the home so often. Is it possible?
