I've had an awesome trajectory. I made sure that I didn't get mommy tracked and it has really paid off. I work really hard, at home with the girls and at work, but it is so worth it!

Eh, I have mixed feelings. I like my coworkers for the most part but there's other issues with the job that I don't like. If I could do it all over again, I'd probably pick a different path.

I basically just started, but I'm not happy at all in my current workplace. Luckily, I only have 2 more months stuck here and I start a new position. I probably won't be 100% happy until have my student loans on the way down, but financially and schedule wise, my new position will be nice!

Yeah, I'm good. I could probably be higher up than I am, but I'm not willing to put in the extra hours and stress that would involve. I have a well-paying, secure job that has a lot of flexibility and makes use of my graduate education, so I'm pretty content.

Nope. Currently looking for a new position at an organization more aligned with my personal interests. I don't want to be a director (although I'm qualified) because I don't want the work load right now while having a young child. I have no idea what the next move and the next 6 months are going to bring since I'll be out of a job come Tuesday.

I'm so very happy. I love my job, I'm good at it and at 5pm I don't have to think about it any more until the next day. Perfect!

Yes, for the most part. I've definitely "made it" in my career, but am working towards the next level. I'm happy and proud with where I am at, but still want growth.

I love the field I'm in, am not pleased with the actual position I hold. I was an over-qualified medical assistant with a bachelors in Biology/Pre-medical science before I moved to NY. I put off going to med school because my husband got a graduate opportunity that was too good to refuse. When we moved to NY I couldn't even get a job as an MA because I am not credentialed in this state. I would have to go back and get an associates degree in a field where I already have 7 years of hands-on experience in order to be credentialed. So I work as a secretary in a medical office. I love my co workers, I love my patients, but I miss the clinical aspect and I know I could be doing so much more at almost 30 years old :(

I can't wait until DH is finished with his doctorate and I can go back to school.

Edit: after my whiney story I re-read the original post... i'm not even a mom yet so I guess I can't play ;) Good for all of you mamas who are in awesome places in your life! You rock!

I like my job, and I received a surprise promotion last October that makes me more inclined to stick with this organization. But sometimes I entertain the thought of going back to school for something completely different (meteorology).

I'm very happy. I've moved up financially and have tons of job security and flexibility built up over the last few years that wouldn't have happened at any other company let alone in this job market/economy in MI. I love my company and even if I leave my job, it would be an internal move.

Eh, not really. I've been frustrated for a few years, but leaving my son to go back to work has magnified it. I don't want to be a SAHM, but I would like to feel satisfied and happy while I'm away from my guy. I'm considering making a change, but it's harder now that I've got to consider all the short and long term effects on the little guy; not just DH.

After I had my son, I really don't care about my career very much any more. I don't want to take on more responsibility and I don't want to get promoted to the next position because I don't want the extra work. I feel like in my current role I can "punch the clock" and focus on my family when I am done with the work day.
I sometimes get jealous of the nanny who gets to do all the fun stuff with my son - park, story time, walks, playdates. I find that I get easily annoyed by petty things at work bc I feel like I am sacrificing time with my son to deal with stupid stuff.
BUT, I enjoy the feeling of "getting things done" while I am at work and it doesn't suck getting a paycheck. I also feel like the time away from my son helps me appreciate the time I spend with him more.
My ideal situation would be to work part-time.

No, actually. I made a major career switch and am honestly not sure if it was the right move. I feel really 'behind' compared to all of my academic peers.

Meh. I'm not super challenged by my work. But moving into an area that I would find more fulfilling (back to investment banking rather than wealth management) would mean longer hours away from my baby and at this point in time that's not a compromise I'm willing to make.

I am. There are things I both loive and hate about my job. But too many pros vs cons. Plus it todays economy and watching other people I know struggle to find work I am thankful. My job pays decent, not great but def decent for the area I live. I literally live on an Island...so there is only so much to choose from.

I am very happy with my career. In the fall of 2011 I got a surprise promotion to a position I assumed wouldn't open up for another 10 years that I would have patiently waited that long to get. It was also perfect timing as it moved me out of the laboratory (I am in environmental sciences) and into a supervisor/office position before I became pregnant with LO.
It's probably a rare sentiment but I started with my company not long after graduating college and will gladly stay as long as I possibly can (6 years here coming up shortly). And, if I do stay there is no possibility of promotion outside of becoming the director of our laboratory - only because I'm at the top already!
