@PawPrints: @snowjewelz: @.twist.: @mrs. wagon: @winniebee: @psw27: @catlady: @mediagirl: @Adira: ladies, thanks so much for sharing those pretty tough illness experiences! DS finally got better on the Sunday (hallelujah) so we at least didn't have to keep him at home yesterday. i talked about it with DH some more so that we have a plan in place if this continues.

Our DD has only been in daycare for a few weeks and it seems like she's been sick the whole time, but so far not sick enough for them to send her home, knock on wood. It has been hard with both DH and I getting all the viruses she gets though; I feel like they hit us harder than her. We've had a few days when DH has worked from home while taking care of her (something I am personally not willing to do! Unless we're both home). It's tough.

I am so sorry! It's so tough  We def lean on grandma care when DD had her stomach bug. And DH and I just chip in depending on whoever's more flexible. It's usually him, but then if he can't, my boss is very understanding in general.

Yep. Did this last year from September 2014 all through March 2015. THE WORST. It was especially frustrating because I seemed to catch everything that L had as well.

I ended up using a lot of sick/vacation time.

It TOTALLY sucks. This year seems to be much better.

Yes. It was bad with one but even worse with two. The worst was when my husband was in the hospital for four days straight with viral meningitis and both kids had the stomach flu, vomiting every drop of anything that went into their stomachs. I was sick too. I had to take the entire week off and I only got to see my husband in the hospital once. He was alone in a hospital room with no tv, only his cell phone and the charger and not even a change of clothes, for four days straight. It was a 20 min drive away, but I couldn't leave the kids' sides even for an hour because one or both were vomiting and crying nonstop, and both started getting dehydrated so I had to feed them tiny sips of water every 15 mins. I had a bag all packed for him with clothes, snacks, his laptop, etc. and it never got to him. He took an Uber home when he finally got discharged.

TL;DR
Yes, and it sucks.

Yes. With our first, he was in daycare and got sick constantly his first year. We leaned on grandparents for sick days, and I had Mondays off...and lo and beyond he always got sick Sunday night so that worked out ok.

This time around, our kids haven't been sick enough to not go to school (knock on wood) but we have a nanny and sick days are one of the reasons we have a nanny!

Yeah, we joke that LO has the "daycare plague" all the time... He isn't sick enough to stay home but his nose is always snotty and he is always coughing.

I commiserate. For a long time, it seemed like my DD was always sick, even in the warm months. I have been lucky in that I have a reasonable number of PTO, a DH with a flexible schedule, and an understanding workplace. We cut down on our vacations so we'd have more days to use for sick days. We never take personal days. I haven't gotten a hair cut since February.

That being said, I am really hoping now that she's older, her immune system will be better. She is 2 now and just had a minor fever, but hasn't had to be out of daycare since July. Crossing fingers for this winter.

Yep. I'm pretty sure she was sick for 2 years straight. Then it started tapering off some. Now she just gets sick every month or so...

Been there! When Xander started daycare, he was sick ALL THE TIME. And not only was he sick all the time, he was getting ME sick all the time! It SUCKED. I missed soooooo much work because of it. But I'm fortunate that my job is pretty flexible and my boss was VERY understanding. He's had a bunch of kids in daycare too, so he knew all about sick kids, so he was awesome about letting me take off as much time as I needed. It also helped that my husband's job is flexible as well, so we'd take turns staying home.

How did you deal? Professionally/emotionally?

Before even going back to work, DS got sick every week at daycare. I got a spot in September but i didn't start putting him in there for a few hours at a time until mid October. Over the last month, he would be there for 2 days and then sick for the rest of the week. Last week was the FIRST time he was there for a full week.

This week is my first week back at work and he is sick with a stomach bug. AGAIN. I think this is the 4th time in the last couple of months he has had a stomach bug. :crying:

Luckily i work from home and DH's work schedule is flexible so he can look after him after he is done teaching a class/office hours. I don't have too much on my plate, but obviously it's not a great start to me being back at work when i have to deal with a sick baby. We have at least 4 more months of winter left!

I also am feeling so guilty with DS getting so sick. DD would get a fever/cough when she started daycare but only got a stomach bug once when she was older. I feel like he is sick all the time, and i'm feeling guilty that it was because i didn't do enough during my pregnancy or something.

Sorry, i'm not sure if this is just a vent or needing someone to commiserate with me.
