@MamaMoose: Our saving grace is that DH works for the federal gov't and they are also pretty quick to shut down, so on those days when everybody freaks out about a potential snowstorm that ends up amounting to 0.5 inches, at least DH and LO are off together while I have to go in to work!

Daycare goes into the basement of the house (in home daycare) and I'm not allowed to leave early. If worse comes to worse and I get off and the weather is still too bad to drive, I'll hangout with our daycare lady until it passes!

Our daycare has a great plan in place for protecting the kids during bad weather. But if day care ever closed or if I felt uncomfortable with LO being at school my boss wouldn't blink an eye if I said I needed to go get her.

@Lozza: I would DIE if our daycare followed the public schools. Here in Nasvhille people FREAK OUT about bad weather. Public schools close if it smells like snow. I'd have to take so many days off!

Both DH and I have a lot of flexibility with our jobs; I can work from home if I need to, and DH can make up hours really easily. Our daycare follows the public school system schedule, so if they close early, daycare does too and one of us goes and picks up LO. My office never closes for weather, but my boss has never objected if I take a half day off and work a half day from home if daycare is closed for snow or storms.

We are expecting some seriously bad weather this afternoon (hail/tornados).

I'm, of course, swamped at work.

School districts around here are having early release and canceling all after school programs.

What do you do during times like this? I already spoke to the daycare this morning to discuss where they take the babies in the building during bad weather.
