I order a lot of things online and I also run lots of errands during my lunch break. Schedules help me out a lot too. After the kids go down for the night, I have a schedule that I stick to.

Load dishwasher, clean up around the house for 20 minutes, steam veggies/fruits for baby food, fold laundry, puree and put away baby food, pack daycare things for son, check internet while husband watches sportscenter, then relax and watch TV before bed! I feel like a mad woman during this time but at least I get a lot accomplished!

I feel like I never have time. I try make it to the grocery on Sundays, but I hate grocery shopping and it ticks me off that I have to use family time to do chores like that. I can sometimes squeeze in a tiny bit of grocery shopping during lunch, but most errands happen on the weekend. It stinks. Thank god we have someone who cleans every other week.

DH works mornings mostly (5am-2pm), and I work (8-5). DS spends a lot of time with my mom while we work (I might add she loves it). Normally we do any errands on days off, or one of us will fun after DS goes down for the night. Just recently DS has gotten on a schedule, so we are trying to keep to it for the most part.

I feel some of you other ladies about the Laundry....I just wish it would do itself..... I am hoping since DH is off today that it will be done when I get home but I doubt it...

@kiddosc: "I constantly feel like there's so much to do and not enough time to do it in." That's how I feel too. We don't get home from work until 6:30 or 7 during the week so the weekends are the only time we really have to do anything in addition to spending time with our son. Every Sunday night I wonder what I've been doing the last 2 days and always feel like I've gotten nothing accomplished!

Grocery shopping is our weekly family Sunday morning outing- we head to Wegmans, have breakfast there together, do all our shopping for the week, and then head home. If I need other random stuff during the week, usually either DH will pick it up on his way home or I'll stop on my way in to work at a little organic market down the street from my office. DH and I split drop off and pickup, so only one of us is racing to daycare at any particular time of day.
Chores: We have a cleaning service come once every two weeks, and I wouldn't give it up for the WORLD. I don't know how we'd do it otherwise- unless we have to do a quick brush-up of the downstairs area for having guests over, we essentially don't clean our house ever. We eat out or do takeout a fair bit (at least twice a week), and we have zero home projects- we outsource anything like fixing things that are broken, or the like. With two incomes and two long commutes, we have slightly more disposable income than disposable time, so we try to outsource lots of things.
We shop almost exclusively online, and we run laundry after LO goes to bed, and have phased out almost all clothing that requires special care (like handwashing or drycleaning or ironing).
If there's yardwork to be done, DH takes LO with him and LO plays outside or "helps."
I also work from home on Fridays, and can kind of flex my time that day (i.e. if I plan a doctor's appointment for 11 AM, I'll get up and be online working at 5 AM, or I'll get back online after LO is in bed), so I have more time (since I'm not commuting for 90 minutes or more) and I can also schedule appointments or workmen for that day since I'm home. Having Fridays at home has made a big difference.

@Ms.SK: don't feel bad about the house cleaner! If it makes you feel better, I had mine coming every week for a few months when it was really busy at work. Since I've cut my hours (and pay) back a little, we are back to every other week.

@yoursilverlining: I grocery shop at lunch sometimes too!

I tend to grocery shop after bedtime when it's an emergency. Earlier this week I went to Michael's (for school fair items that I was delinquent on) and the supermarket after DD's bedtime (8:30). I was standing in line at Michael's at 9pm closing, haha. I didn't get home until close to 10 and I cooked the next night' s dinner after that. The rest of the errands we do on the weekend.
I agree with Mrs. Wagon .. it doesn't all get done. My house looks like a tornado hit it. I only get done what has to be done by tomorrow, usually.

After work DH cleans/preps bottles, does dishes, takes care of dog, and cooks dinner. I hang out with baby, nurse, give bath, set out her outfit for the next day, and play with her until bed time. He reads a story to her and then I put her to bed.

After she goes to bed, we eat dinner, then I pump and then sterilize the pump parts. Sometimes I'll clean up after dinner and pack lunches for the following day. Other times I just leave dishes for DH to do the next day when he's cleaning/prepping bottles.

DH does trash on Thursday nights, laundry and lawn care on weekends.

Last weekend I took LO grocery shopping early-ish in the morning (like 9 AM). She was fed, it wasn't time for her nap yet, and the grocery store wasn't very busy! Win. We ran a few errands after that as well, and she fell asleep in the middle of that. She can nap well in the car/while I wear her in the Moby for now.

We have a maid come to clean whenever we have people over on the weekends. Otherwise, we spot clean here and there.

at risk of getting scornful looks - I have a cleaning person come 2x a month. My single neighbor who used to own a resturant made a deal with us that if we buy the food, he will cook it and keep a portion for himself as payment. I also have the nanny work on all things baby. That leaves in between cleaning, grocery shopping, laundry and misc. My husband does the shopping in the mornings as long as I leave a list and I try to do one room each day of the week once the kids are in bed. I have no good laundry plan because I hate it. I try to keep hiding it.

can i answer never?

I actually told DH today at lunch that we need a house manager!

DH works until about 10pm this time of year so 6-9pm is like a marathon. dinner, bath, bed for snug, toss in laundry, prep lunches, prep bags, wash bottles, prep bottles, wash pumped milk bottes and pump parts, fold laundry and I try to do one other 'house task' like cleaning the bathroom or mopping the floor. by 9pm LO is ready for his last nursing session and comes to bed with me.

Saturdays while DH is at work LO and I go grocery shopping after his morning nap.

I feel like there is always more that needs to be done!

@mediagirl: it's not bad... we do Earth's Best and the prices are comparable to finding it on sale in grocery stores or target. The priceless thing, though, is not having to lug it all home... jars are so heavy!

I did the first batch thru Amazon but since I'm thinking LMW is having a sensitivity to squash, I picked some up at Target because I could pick and choose there. Sometimes the best deals on Amazon are for veggie packs and those include Squash.

I went grocery shopping after he went to bed last night too. Sometimes I'll take him with me on a sunday afternoon. I have only enough time to feed him, play for few minutes, bath, then bedtime routine after daycare. Then I need to make dinner, pump, minor cleaning up, prep bottles/food for the next day.

I also feel like I waste weekends and we never end up doing much because I don't want to screw up naps. He doesn't sleep well at daycare and does a lot of catchup on the weekends. I don't like leaving him with DH so I can run errands because I hardly get to spend any time with him during the week and I want all my weekend time with him. I constantly feel like there's so much to do and not enough time to do it in.

I grocery shop on Mondays (my day at home alone w/ my son). Otherwise, it's weekends, or evenings after he goes to bed. We are home from daycare at 6 and he goes to bed by 7:30 so I don't do chores then. But, I have no energy to run errands after he goes to bed....so night time chores are limited to laundry, pick up around the house ,and dishes.

@yoursilverlining: oh yes Amazon!! I get all the things I used to get at Babies R Us from Amazon Subscribe and Save. Diapers, baby wash, baby food, etc. It knocks one shopping destination off of our list and we don't have to lug it all home!

Sometimes I wake up early at 4 and I clean, do laundry and pack her lunch. Or I wait until she is asleep and I go grocery shopping if DH is home..I hate doing chores between 5-7:30 because that is my time with LO during the week.

Can you grocery shop at lunch? That’s what I do. It’s cold enough outside that I can leave some perishable goods in my car and we also have a fridge at work I can put a bag of groceries into after the lunch rush and everyone removes their lunch bags.

I try to do as much shopping as I can at lunch.

Also, I get anything I can shipped from Amazon. 2 days, free shipping; can’t beat that!
