Are you still in the first trimester? You may find yourself able to exercise more once you hit second trimester. Honestly, I would say to listen to your body and don't overdo it, but definitely try to exercise when you feel up to it. I ended up working out pretty consistently during weeks 14 to 34 or so, and I took it easier at the beginning and end. I only really stopped totally by week 38, I think. My workouts of choice are always bar based, so they were low impact, and I also walked a great deal (I walk to work). On days that I felt really bad, I just kept up my walking and still felt good about it. Btw, I do think it helped me recover and regain my old shape faster, so I'm glad I kept it up.

I just had my third baby and this was the first time that I actually worked out during my pregnancy. I was AMAZED at how much it helped in my recovery. This has been my easiest recovery and I think it is totally from working out.

I continued with my bootcamp work outs. I did squats, crunches, planks, bicep curls, running (walking towards the end). I was working out about 4-5 times a week until 37 weeks.

i'm a bit of an exercise addict and hit the gym about 6 times a week pre-pregnancy. back in those days, i did some sort of intense cardio with weights, up to 8 hours a week. after getting my bfp, i toned it down considerably - for example, i cut out my HIIT routines. for most of the first trimester, i was nauseous and feeling terrible but still managed to workout 2 or 3 times a week. i'm currently in my 7th month and still running up to 5 miles at a time, 3-4x a week, or do hills, stairmaster, etc. but i'm much slower now, pace wise. i want to keep up my stamina so i try to average 40-50 minutes of cardio each session. on days i take a break from cardio, i'll focus more on weights, probably 30 minutes of strength training, a lot of it modified.

i think continuing to exercise paired with a healthy diet is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your baby. it will also help when you get back into your normal routine post-baby - it won't be as awful because you'll still be moderately fit. if you feel terrible on some days, that's totally fine. there's a fine line between not working out because you physically can't (extreme exhaustion, morning sickness, etc.) vs. because you simply don't want to! also, you'll know very quickly how hard you can push yourself so definitely listen to that inner voice!

I'm 29 weeks and working out 4x/week. I go to two "barre burn" classes a week that is intense cardio, light weights, and barre work and twice a week I walk on the treadmill for 4 miles (takes about 1 hour). It gives me so much more energy compared to my first pregnancy when I never worked out. Plus I run around with a toddler at the park everyday lol. I think its a good balance. I am still gaining good weight, not taking it too hard, but maintaining a similar level of fitness to where I was when I got pregnant. The only difference is I really don't do sit ups anymore.

I'm currently 6w and was just going to post something about this! Thanks @mrs. ham!

I plan to "run" a half marathon on Sunday - but obviously take it super easy and walk if I need to. I find that exercise has seriously helped with morning sickness and nausea! I'm hoping to keep it up after the race, but I think it will be hard cause I feel like crap!

Funny, I just looked at old threads on this topic today :)

Its my understanding that if you were exercising before, you can continue at the same level as long as your heart rate doesn't go over 140 (the talk test is good too).

I was sick for about a week and a half, so I realized that my body would rather work on getting me healthy and growing that baby. But now I've been trying to get back at it! I usually elliptical for 40m and if I feel like more, I walk for 10.

1st pregnancy, I continued to jog 2-3 miles a day, 4-5 days a week. 2nd pregnancy, I hit the gym and do 15-20 min of elliptical and a little bit of weights.

I regret not working out at all! With the next one I plan on hitting the gym throughout the entire pregnancy. Even if it is just to walk a mile or two. Anything is better than nothing!

I always went by the talk test. if i was so out of breath, I couldn't talk, or got out of breath, I stopped and caught my breath. That was my threshold and what was comfortable for me.

i've never regretted exercising too much :) I did as much as I could until the end and stopped at 38 weeks.

Hi Bees! So, before getting that BFP, I was very good about going to the gym, and even getting up early and doing ab work several days a week. Since morning sickness and exhaustion hit, I've been terrible! I currently only go about 3 days a week now, and only walk. So, my question is this...what level / how much working out is enough? Anyone find yourself regretting how much/ how little you exercised? I'm curious to hear other peoples opinions!
