@Mrs. Lion: I usually allow myself one-two snoozes, and then I make myself get up. I hate running after work, and I know if I don't get up, I will most likely not run later. I also go to bed at 9pm, so by 5 I've had a decent amount of sleep. Im usually only up that early three times during the work week.

I am a morning workout person. I go to a 6am crossfit class 3-4x a week. I set my alarm for 5:15, take the dogs out, fix my post-workout shake, and straighten up the house a little before to get myself moving. Having a class helps a lot because once I'm there, I don't have to motivate myself to work hard.

It's so much harder when it's cold! Having the right gear is critical. I don't set clothes out, but I have drawer dedicated to workout clothes and I do laundry every Sunday so I have them ready for the week ahead.

The other important component for me is that I drink a glass of water before or drink a quick pre-workout shake. I drink a protein shake (powder, fruit, greens, milk or water) afterwards to save time.

I managed to do it this morning! I'm proud of myself for that. Now it's a matter of sticking to it. I took it easy and I did a half hour of a brisk walk on the treadmill. I had my workout clothes ready on the bed, but ended up just going in my PJs. I'm surprised at how easy it was once I started. Getting up is definitely the hardest part.

@MoonMoon: I think that's one of the hardest things about getting up for me! What I did was I turned on our electric heater by the treadmill, and sat in front of it for about 5 minutes until I started to get too warm and felt a bit of sweat forming. Then it was much easier to get started. I lose too much body heat from the walk from my bed to the treadmill!

I am going to try going to bed in my workout clothes, at least the top half, not sure about sleeping in my crops, lol.

I plan to do a 20 minute HIIT spin class at home, when it gets warmer, I'll switch it to a run outside.

@LilSprinkles: How do you get yourself out of bed? I know I will feel so much better if I do this, but I am usually up between 3 and 4 with the baby and i have such a hard time waking up at 5!

I get up at 5am, but it's probably closer to 530 by the time I'm actually up and ready. I run about 3 miles. If it's raining, I'll head to the gym and run on the treadmill. My goal is to be back and in the shower by 6 the latest.

I go to 6am barre or spin classes. The winter is extra rough since the mornings are dark here until about 7:00. But I never, ever regret having gone!

I go to an aerobics class twice during the week at 5:45. It's a lot easier now that I am not BF or pumping - I can just get up and go. They do not have a shower facility there so I come home and we get ready for work and daycare once I get home.

I want to do this too! The problem for me is winter. How to convince myself to leave the warm bed when it's dark and freezing outside? I'll have to come up with an idea to bribe myself...

I workout right after dropping LO off at school. I do 30 minutes, and then start working when I'm done. I have a lot of energy then, and love getting it out of the way. :)

I can't wait to do this soon too! For it to actually work, I just need to be awake an hour earlier than normal. Which means a whole change in lifestyle - no tv at night etc. But it's so worth it...good luck for your resolution!

I love working out in the morning. I had to take a break from it when my LO went through a phase of waking at 5, but now that he's sleeping better again and DH's work isn't so crazy busy I hope to get back to it. I lay out my gym clothes the night before or sometimes even sleep in them. I use my UP as an alarm so I don't wake DH and go to a 6am class at my gym.

I love working out in the morning. It's hard to get up, but it's the easiest time for me not to make excuses. I go to crossfit 3x/week at 630am before my husband goes to work. It works the best as I don't need to try and find a sitter so I can go to the gym. Sometimes if I'm feeling extra good, when I get home, I'll take the dog out for a walk if I can squeeze it in too.
If you can't/don't want to leave the house, there's so many good videos on youtube that you can do as well. The great thing now adays is there's so much variety out there, it's so easy to find something that you actually enjoy doing. Be it, a treadmill/bike/videos/dance etc!

It's a new year, and one of my resolutions is developing a workout routine.

Morning is probably going to be my best bet because I just don't feel like I have enough time in the evenings.

I'm thinking of starting out by walking on the treadmill for 30-45 minutes or so first thing in the morning, and eventually change things up a bit. I don't want to lose weight, I just want to be healthy.

For those of you who work out in the morning, what's your routine?
