For everyone in an office, with a long commute - whatever - I'd highly recommend the NYT's 7 minute workout. You can take it easy and still get a nice little bit of weight lifting in by doing it. I'd do it on my lunch break if I were really pressed for time.

@MrsBrewer: @Cole: I agree with using a fitbit - I've been doing lots of walking and fitbit motivates me and keeps me accountable. I also didn't realise how much exercise day to day activities I'm already doing count towards activity! Swinging child at park = butt load of active minutes!! I've got mine synced with myfitnesspal so it's helping me keep an eye on my nutrition during pregnancy as well (I'm not on weight loss settings). Generally I try to keep sugars and sodium down and vitamins (particularly protein and calcium) up. Now that it's summer here I'm going to incorporate swimming as well. I'm only doing exercise that keeps me relaxed and happy and is low impact. Current targets are 10,000 steps a day, with 2-3, 4 mile walks thrown in a week. I've been meeting it most weeks since I started back up

@MrsBrewer: I think it would still be totally worth it. I think it was just $18 on amazon. And you could do the earlier workouts after you have baby and your body is still adjusting!

Following, too! I had gotten so busy while just TTC (working & commuting keeps me gone 12-14hrs/day!), I'd dwindled down to only 1-2 workouts/wk & now am lucky to get in a good walk 1-2x week. So, I also really am ready to step it back up before I get too lazy or flabby or just really pregnant. By my scale I've only gained 2-3lbs (15wks along), but I just don't feel fit like I used to. I thought I'd be more motivated to work out, so I think I just need to give myself some tough love & MAKE myself go. :bummed:

I found a free prenatal Pilates workout on YouTube that's been really helpful to ease into. It's an hour-long workout broken up into 10-minute mini-workouts, so if you are just starting out or you're tired or in a hurry you can pick one or two or three of them instead of doing the full hour.

Exercise is so crucial to my mental health that it wasn't even a question of if I was going to do it, it was just how. I've been really bummed to not have the energy to get on my bike much, especially with how cold it's been. So mostly I've been walking on my treadmill and doing the NYT's 7 minute workout. I find that on days when I don't get at least a 15 minute walk in early in the day, I have waaaaay less energy. I also have a lot of back pain, and working out is the only thing that really fixes it.

I'd suggest something really easy to ease back in - 7 minute workout app, yoga video, whatever. Just something to move and get a little stronger and not just let your fitness go totally.

I went on a lot of walks because running made me crampy. I made sure that I walked at least half a mile twice a day with the dog and took longer walks on the weekends as my body would allow.

I just do some YouTube yoga (usually about 30 minutes) 2 to 3 times a week & barre 2 to 3 times a week with the occasional walk. What keeps motivated is how good I feel after. I never regret a workout, even a small super gentle yoga session revives me far better than sitting on the couch does

@LindsayInNY: her normal workouts are usually 30 mins dance cardio and 30 minutes muscular structure work, aka toning. You do arms, abs, and butt/thighs. For the pregnancy videos there is no cardio. Here is a preview! http://youtu.be/QQ97aXM2T1Y

I've long been a fan of the Tracy Anderson Method. Almost the first thing I did when I got my bfp was to order her Pregnancy Project DVDs from amazon! It's a diff workout for each month of pregnancy and I can't wait to start it! I hope this idea of a workout designed specifically for what's happening to my body will be enough to keep me motivated.

I just started (like last night!) Lindsay Brin's Moms into Fitness pregnancy DVD. You could look for something like that! Walking is great, swimming too. With DS, I danced until 22 weeks pregnant, but I haven't danced since, so I needed to find something else.

Hey Due Date Twin! I'll be 14 weeks tomorrow too, and I kinda sort of feel good today. I don't want to jinx it yet. I'm motivating myself by planning on doing short workouts. 10 minutes. If I can just do a 10 minute walk on the treadmill or elliptical. It doesn't sound like much, but it's better than nothing. Hopefully, whenever I actually get started I'll feel well enough to do 20 minutes! I also bought some prenatal DVDs, which are broken up into 20 minute segments, so hopefully those will be manageable. Good luck!

I forged through the first tri and continued to work out until 28 weeks. I stopped when my BH contractions got to be too much. I put very little pressure on myself and often just walked my son. It felt great to stay active and I have missed it!

Same as the previous posters, it's the thought of an easier labor and recovery that's been motivating me! Also they say that it's less likely to develop gestational diabetes if you're active.

But if I think about what REALLY motivates me, it's DH's pride in me after I tell him I worked out that day. It never gets old! Whenever I'm thinking about skipping the gym, I imagine how proud DH would be if I went anyway, and that's usually enough to make me go! Dawwww~~

I really loved walking and swimming during pregnancy. Prenatal yoga was nice because I got to chat with other women in a similar life stage as me. My main motivation was to do anything I could to make labor easier and all three have lots of people who swear they help significantly.

Wearing a fitbit helped a lot for me, I have some friends who use it too and we would keep each other accountable.

My highly energetic dog also helped- if we walked more than five miles I could take a nap in peace!

Start slow! I got held back in the early weeks too, between feeling queasy and getting sick, and I had to ease myself back into my routine by reducing my intensity and taking more breaks. I try to tell myself that the more activity I can keep up with now, the easier labor will be.. whether or not that turns out to be true!

Now that I'm about 14 weeks though, I feel great! My energy is back, and I don't feel sick at all.....but now....how do I get my butt up and moving again??

What did you use as motivation? I feel like I've been stuck these last 3 months and lazy! Help!
