During the weekdays, we read to my son before bedtime (usually 3-4 books) but he's usually begging for more. My daughter gets a few books right after she eats her dinner while her brother is finishing up his. And during the weekdays, we read throughout the day. I found that the location of the book case played a major role on how much they read. When we had the book case near the corner of the living room, they didn't seem too interested in pulling out books and flipping through them. So we moved it practically in the middle of the living room (right next to the sofa where we spend a majority of our time) and lo and behold, they're constantly pulling out books and reading! We also have a few books in the dining room, in their bedrooms and in the car. I think having a designated reading area is nice and all. But for our kids, it's out of sight out of mind. So we keep books everywhere. And they're constantly reading!

In the evenings when we get home from daycare/work. I usually don't hop straight into the kitchen to make dinner. I'll spend 15 minutes or so playing with him before tending to chores. If he wants to read, we read! I find he will come to me when I pick up a book and start reading.

We do books before the bedtime bottle -- and if he grabs for his books while we are playing in the morning or evening we will read the ones he picks ... We keep a bunch of books with his toys in the family room and some up in his bedroom.

I want to read to him more but he still won't let us. Anytime I get a book out, he immediately grabs for it to play with it. We keep trying but it's always the same thing. We usually try after bath and before bed when we play together as a family.

I usually read to DD in the morning when she first wakes up. She will sit quietly and needs a little bit of time to really wake up. She likes flipping the pages after we're done. I started to read her french books in the morning and DH reads English to her when she gets home right before bed.

on days I work, bedtime and/or post-dinner playtime. bedtime is part of our routine, but she loves to pull out books anytime. we keep some books our front (where she plays) and some in her bedroom. that helps me get more variety too!

After she wakes up we bring her to our bed and i'll read her a book (mainly because she's pointing at the book). I'll read her a book before we leave for daycare, and read her several books when we get home. Then i'll read her a few more books before we go upstairs to bed, and one final book in her room.

We read before bedtime, so between the time frame of 7 - 7:30 p.m. He doesn't always sit with us but I continue reading. LOs favorite thing to do is to get a book off the shelf and sit on our laps. Only problem is he will sit on our laps for about a second and then he's up to get another book. It's cute though! :)

And then during dinner, at the table. As she eats, I have some of her Hello Magazine books and I will read to her as she's eating. There are books all over our house so even if we're in the family room with the TV on, she'll sit on my lap and I'll flip through some books with her.

LO requests books constantly so it's not hard at all. It's one of the first things he says to me in the morning, and we usually end up reading 2-3 books in the morning before daycare. (like, "ok, first we need to get you changed, and THEN we can read a book." "Ok, we can read a book, but you need to eat your breakfast first and then we'll read.")
At the end of the day, we'll usually read 1-5 books before we even start bedtime just because LO requests them, and then we read two books as a part of the bedtime (and naptime on the weekends) routine.

We only read at bedtime when I worked, but they read to her a lot at daycare. However, that hasn't changed much now that I don't work. She is in school from 9-3 so I feel like we just need to go to the playground, have a play date, or do something else after school. We do go to library after school so on those days we read a lot. Otherwise, it might still only be at bedtime during the week.

Whenever I can fit it in. We do read to her daily but at various times: in the morning before we leave for child care; after work when, and sometimes at the dinner table once she says she's done (but I know she isn't) sort of as an intermission; and before bed.

On the weekends we power read a ton of books.
