@blackbird: I am seriously thinking about it, I don't need a fancy model, just something basic for now.

I work out after DS goes down during the week around 8pm EST. I also workout over the weekend while DH watches DS and then we switch off so DH can go too.

I am in office m-w (9-5), get home at 6, DS goes down by 730, we usually squeeze in dinner between 6-730, or I eat after my workout. I don't go to bed until midnight most nights and wake up at 730am.

DS wakes up at 8am and my mom comes over to watch him or I drop him at her place.

On my wfh days, I go during my lunch hour.

I can only workout on days when i have a short commute, so on those days, I used to go to the gym at 4 before going home. The gym closed now, so I do Zumba on Friday night, at 6:15.

I am seriously thinking about buying a piece of equipment for home.

I want to get back to morning exercise but with LO's night wakings and night nursing it hasn't worked out yet. These days I get 3 workouts in a week - Saturday/Sunday during her morning nap, and Wednesday after bed. I have weights and a kettlebell in my basement and work through some crossfit style programming that way - always 30 minutes or less. I know this wouldn't work for many but if you can workout at home it's not a bad way to fit a few workouts into the week.

@rachiecakes: Yeah it's sort of awesome. It's pretty bare-bones, ie a corporate gym, but there are treadmills and a nice locker room so it works :) Want to come to CrossFit with me in the square??? I am almost feeling ready to go back...

I have a super flexible work schedule so I don't think I'll be too helpful. I also usually work out where you have "Relax" scheduled in and I'm guessing you don't want to replace that activity.

6:30 - wake up, shower, get dressed
7:00 - get LO up, get ready, have breakfast
8:00 - I drop off LO at daycare
8:30 - work
**3:30 - sometimes I can get to the gym at this time and then I will pick up my LO on my way home at 5-ish
5:00 - I pick up LO from daycare
5:10 - get home, play, prep dinner
5:45/6:00 - eat dinner (on nights I have already worked out or am not going to the gym)
6:30/6:45 - bath, books, whatever
7:00/7:15 - LO is in bed and I leave for the gym right after he's down or during the bedtime routine
8:45 - this is when I eat dinner on nights I work out
10:00 - bedtime for me and hubs

ETA: My husband and I take turns on weekends to go to the gym. I usually go on Saturday mornings and he goes on Sunday mornings.

@mediagirl: This thread actually made me laugh, I have just accepted if I want to work out it has to be on the weekends, this is my non working out schedule if anyone has any ideas that don't eat up my sleep or baby time! I have decided to embrace this season, and I refuse to give up my very limited time with my baby girl.

4:45am- wake up (unless baby wakes up between 4 and this time, in that case I just wake up then) feed baby
5am- pump, eat breakfast, get ready for work
6:30am- get baby up, drop off at day care
7-12- work
12pm- pump, eat
1-6pm- work
6:15pm- get home, feed baby, hang out with LO
6:45- bath, bedtime routine
7:15- feed baby and put to bed
7:30- Make dinner, eat, rest (or clean or laundry)
8:20- pump
9- bed

@JoJoGirl: No, I don't shower after :silly: (stinko alert lol). Luckily I don't sweat very much so just toweling off works for after a workout. The classes are all 45 minutes, so I could have time for a super quick shower if I wanted (my workplace is also very flexible so if I stayed longer at the gym, I could just stay longer in the evening).

6 a.m. - wake-up, shower, finish getting boys ready after DH leaves
7-7:30 a.m. - leave house, drop off at daycare
7:30-8 a.m. - drive to work
8-4:45/5 p.m. - work
4:45/5 - 5:30 p.m. - leave work, arrive at daycare for pick-up
5:45 p.m. - arrive home, start warming up dinner for boys (prepped/cooked the night before)
6-6:20 p.m. - boys eat dinner
6:20-6:40 p.m. - bathtime
7:15ish p.m. - boys' bedtime
by 7:30 p.m. - leave for gym, workout (if I'm catching a Zumba class, will leave at 6:50 and DH will put them down alone)
8:45 p.m. - get home, grab something to eat, relax, maybe shower (depends how sweaty I got)
asleep by 10:30 p.m.

This only works when DH is home by bedtime for the boys. His work schedule is unpredictable so I have to keep my gym days pretty flexible as well. I also do frozen crockpot meals that I prep on the weekends, or it's fend for yourself!

At my old job we got free pilates membership and they had a afternoon session. It worked out great because it's not intense enough to make me sweat so I don't need to account for shower time.

The studio is still close to me maybe I should consider paying for membership. I know the owner so maybe I can get a discount?

For me the best option is morning. If I put it at night I tend not to do it. So, workout would be 5 - 5:30 a.m. on the elliptical we have at home.

I can't do morning because my hair takes forever to dry and gets so gross working out. So I work out once DS has gone to bed.

It looks like:

6:00am get up and ready for the day
7:20/30 leave for work
work until 5pm
5 pm pick up DS from daycare
5:30/6 make dinner
7:30/8 bath & put DS to bed
8-9 workout video (yoga, 30DS, etc.)
9 relax, tea, catch up on email
10pm try to go to bed

@mediagirl: Could you manage a later daycare pick up? If they're open until 6 you could get an hour after work before picking up the kids, and push all bedtimes back a bit. This is what most people I know do. A plan like Septca's where your partner splits the dinner prep with you could work, too, if you're not a single mom.

@.twist.: I have a very long commute as well. I work out after E goes to bed, which limits what I can do. Dh works from home most of the time until 8:30, so I can leave the house since he can keep an ear out in case E wakes up.

5:00 - wake up and get ready
6:00 - leave for work
7:30 - arrive at work
4:00 - leave work
5:45 - pick up E from daycare
6:00 - dinner for E
7:30 - bedtime for E
7:45 - depending on what DH and I have for dinner, I will prep it and put it in the oven, then work out (walks/runs around the neighborhood, Wii games, workout videos), or I will work out and then get dinner ready
8:30 - DH gets off work
9:00 - eat dinner
10:00 - bed time

I realize we eat a lot later than most people. It's the schedule we're used to and it works for us.

I wouldn't say I "work out," but I try every morning to do about 5 minutes of exercise:
- 30 pushups
- 30 crunches
- 30 squat-and-presses with handweights (from the 30 Day Shred)
- 30 jumping jacks

It makes me feel surprisingly sweaty and is better than nothing. One of these days I'll pick back up on Jillian Michaels DVDs - with a kid I don't think going out to a gym or class is in the cards.

I either get up at 4:30 and go jog in my neighborhood, or go to the gym while DH gets DD ready for daycare. OR I go at lunch (but I only get a 30 min max workout)

4:30 am - wake up
4:45 am - jog or head to the gym
5:30 am - start getting ready (if I jogged at home)
6:30 am - wake DD up and get her breakfast going
7:00/7:15 am - leave the house
7:30/7:45 am - drop off DD and go in to work (her daycare is 5 min from my work)
11:00 am- 1 hr lunch (gym is 15 min from work, so I have to really push to get a workout in)
4:45 pm - leave work, pick up DD
5:30 pm - get home
6:30 pm - eat dinner
7:15 pm - start bath/bedtime routine (one of us will take care of DD while the other cleans up the house)
8:00 pm - DD in bed
8:30/9:00 pm - get ready for bed

I have a "fit in what I can" attitude, so my options kind of vary. I'm at 90 min 4x/week then 30 min on the 5th day. Thurs/Fri are my days off.

1) Get up at 4:30 and work out at the gym for an hour
2) Get up at 5:00 and use the elliptical downstairs for cardio, then do weights after work. or just cardio on my cardio only day
3) I go right after I get off work (this is my preferred/usual option - 60 min weights, 30 min cardio. I go at 4:30, I'm home a few minutes after 6:00. I prep a meal on the weekend so we just heat and eat),
4) I go (my least favorite option) at 7:00 pm

I do drop off, DH does pick up

The two options I see for you are
a) Get up earlier
b) Work out during your "relax" time. I don't really get to relax on the days I work out because those 90 minutes get eaten up by working out! But it's a different kind of relaxing, I suppose :)

6:30-9:00 every evening is a chunk of time! Does it really take you a full hour to clean up every day? What if Dh does dishes while you do bath time? That would knock out a lot of work!

@yoursilverlining: I also have a gym in my building, but am never sure how to squeeze in a workout AND an extra shower into lunch. Do you shower after??

My company has a gym on the campus (and LO’s daycare is there too), so I work out at lunch which isn’t an option for many, so I don’t know how helpful my answer will be. But I’ll share anyway….

6:30am - wake up, shower, get LO up, feed/dress, etc.
7:20-7:45 –leave the house
8ish - 8:30 – get to work after dropping off LO
Sometime between 11:30 and 1 I go work out for 45 minutes to 1 hour
5:15-5:30 – leave work
6:15ish – LO’s dinner
7:30 – start the bedtime routine
8:00 – LO’s bedtime
10:30 – my bedtime (I try for 10:30, I usually end up awake until after 11pm)

I’ve found for me that a lunchtime workout is optimal, because it breaks up the day and I have a lot more productive afternoon. The downside is that it isn’t very doable if you don’t have a gym super close to your work (or can’t run near your work), and that sometimes the gym gets bumped for conference calls. It’s a work in progress.

@mediagirl: My schedule looks very similar to yours . . . I either get up at 4:30/5 to squeeze in a workout, or I do it immediately after I put LO down for the night. Otherwise, it just doesn't happen! But the best chance for success (for me personally) is the 4:30/5 time slot . . . !

I have no ideas, as I struggle to make it work. Here is my schedule:

6:00 am - wake up
6:30-7:30 am - gym*
7:45-8:30 am - get ready, get DD ready**
8:35 am - leave for work
9:00 am -5:00 pm - work
5:30 pm - arrive home**
6:00 pm - DD dinner, I prep adult dinner
6:15 pm - 7:15 pm - DD plays, gets a bath, gets ready for bed
7:15 pm - bedtime feed
7:30 pm - DD bedtime
7:30-10:00/30 pm - adult dinner, prep lunches for the next day, read/watch tv/hang out with DH
10:00/30 - read, go to bed

*DH and I switch off days at the gym. He goes TThF, and I go MW. The person at home gets DD when she wakes up and gives her milk. I am still nursing at wake up and bedtime, so if I am home, I nurse. If I am at the gym, she gets WCM from DH and then I nurse when I get home.

**We have a nanny share, so she either comes to our house or I drop off/pick up DD from the other house, which is only a 1/2 block away. This obviously makes getting to the gym easier, because pick up and drop off aren't a big production.

I either go in the morning at 4:45, or at noon during lunch or 3pm after work or at 7:30 after bedtimes.

I usually wake up at 5:30 when I don't work out. Bed by 11-12. I do daycare pickup at 4:45-5pm.

Can you do a DVD workout at 7-7:30 and relax after that?
