I make them early or late and try to make up the time elsewhere. We can use any increment of vacation hours so it's not a big deal if I need an hour of vacation. Typically for dr appts though, you're allowed to use sick time but I really just try and make it up. They're short appts and it's close to my office.

I work Tuesdays--Saturdays, so I made as many appointments as possible on Mondays. I also don't go into work until noon on Wednesdays and Thursdays (and stay until 9 p.m.) so I could fit appointments in first thing on those days.

I'm salaried and our company policy for salaried employees is that time off can only be taken in 4 or 8 hour increments, since I didn't need a half day off for my appointments I just went and tried to make it up later.

My boss was so understanding! She just let me leave when ever I needed to. I made sure I let her know in advance & she mad the necessary arrangements to cover me while I was gone. I did try to make them early mornings so it wouldn't affect her that much.

My boss is awesome and just lets me go whenever. I do try to come in early or work late, but he doesn't require me to. It still stresses me out since I have so many appts. Until recently, I've had an ultrasound/MFM appt every other week and an OB appt every 4 weeks, but now I go to both the OB and the MFM ever other week (on opposite weeks). So, I have an appointment every single week, and I'm only 27 weeks. I'm so, so thankful for an understanding boss. I thought the hardest part was the early appointments before I had told my boss when I had to try to just keep missing for mystery appointments.

I just made my appointments for my days off. I worked for a very popular fast causal place early in pregnancy, they weren't super at working with me. I went back to work for my dad's practice which allowed me to adjust my schedule for my doctors appointments.

I have a flexible work environment and schedule. And since I'm high risk I have way more than the normal amt of appts and luckily haven't had any issues with being able to work around my job.

i was able to schedule mine for when i got out of work. i only work until 3, so a 3:30 appointment was usually what i did. this time, i work from home 3 days a week so i could easily go during work and just make up time without anyone knowing. this is my 2nd pregnancy, and i don't think i'll be able to hid it as long this time, so everyone will know soon anyways.

Yeah, much like @Cherrybee about the UK, there are human rights provisions in Canada that require employers to give employees time off for pregnancy related appointments. They do ask that you do your best to schedule appointments at the beginning or end of day, but with my employer it's been a complete non-issue.

I told my boss right away so he was aware why I would be missing days & why I was so pale/sick. I told my coworkers (3 others in my dept.) at around 8 weeks, although they had figured it out (2 having given birth in the last 2 years.) I figured they would know if I miscarried anyways so I could tell them. My boss was great about my appointments, I just made up my time when I needed to leave early/come in late.

Hehe, I know, you really get to know the doctors and staff by the end!! You really get used to the process (get into the room, pee into the cup, weigh yourself). I'm lucky in that my OB's office is just a 10 min drive from my office, and the hospital is between my office and the OB! I would just schedule my appointments during lunch breaks or first thing in the morning (and come in late) or at the end of the day (and leave a little early).

As an RN in a hospital, I just went on my days off (3-4 days/week). When I got a normal desk job and was pg with #2, my hours were 8-4 so I would schedule my appts at around 4:30p.

thankfully there are appointments I can make in the evenings and weekends, like my ultra sounds and blood work. So I really only have to tell my boss about doctors appointments. I've had health issues in the past with tons of doctors appointments and so I guess it doesn't seem out of the ordinary for me.

I use flex time for any appointments I have to make during work time. :)

I would schedule my appointments for the latest possible and work thru lunch so I could leave a little early. If I couldn't get a late appointment then I would just take the earliest and work from home before the appointment. A couple of times I went to my OB's secondary office over my lunch break.

We have what's called "excused time" to use for doctor's appointments, car issues, etc. Anything that's not sick of vacation really. Before I announced, I just said that I would be in late or out early due to appointments and didn't elaborate. No one cared.

I'm also fortunate that I have every other Friday off, so I've been scheduling my appointments lately for my off Fridays. That's working when they are 4 weeks apart, and will still work when they are 2 weeks apart. I'll have to start missing work again when I have to go in weekly, but now that it's the new year, I have 40 fresh hours of excused time to start using again.

When I started a new job at 20 weeks, I asked if they wanted to give me a schedule and I'd plan around it, or if they'd prefer for me to make the appointments and just let them know when I couldn't work. They prefered me to just make the appointments and they'd schedule my hours around that.

I won't have to worry about this at all once I announce since my boss is super low key and flexible. But before I announce I'm more concerned about not raising suspicion about the pregnancy, so I'll have to come up with some kind of excuse for being gone. Luckily my next appt is at noon so that will be super easy, but the one after that is smack in the middle of the afternoon and will last 1.5-2 hours!
