I know the feeling of being worried about your LO during that early stage. My M was borderline jaundice as a newborn. My ped recommended sitting her by a sunny window with just a diaper for a few minute each day. But she was born in the spring so not quite as cold as it is now. Although you're in FL right so it's probably not that cold.</p> <p>Maybe try that? His levels went up again and he had to go back under the lights for 1 day.. He was in the NICU a total of 10 days and he's perfect. It's tough now but I promise it will get better! Hang in there! There is a nomogram that we follow and it stops applying after 5 days. I wouldn't stop breastfeeding. I'd feed through. A few days after she was discharged with a level of 13.1, her levels went back to 15.6. Our ped said it was OK. And 3 weeks later her level was 11.8 which was still higher than when we were discharged from the hospital after I delivered. They say it can take 3 months for the level to go down to a normal level. Our LO still looks a little yellow and the whites of her eyes were yellow up until maybe 5 weeks. Anyway...my point is that it leaves the system slowly...just keep monitoring her levels. As long as they are going down, I think its OK. We were both held at the hospital for almost a week. They didn't say it then, but I think breastfeeding had something to do with his levels too.<br /> It took a bit longer but he was fine and I'm sure H will be too - you're doing everything you can and listening to your doctors. Since then, we've monitored her levels and they've continued to go up again. Her Ped thinks it's a very stubborn case of "Breastfeeding jaundice" which is when something in the breastmilk prevents the breakdown of bilirubin, and causes the baby to be more jaundiced. So I have been giving her formula since Thurs night and pumping/freezing in hopes that a few days of formula will cleanse her system and then we can go back to BFing. Today we checked her levels and they BARELY went down- from 16.8 on Thurs to 16.1 today after all of this formula feeding.</p> <p>I am so scared that there is a bigger problem and I am really so stressed that I am losing it. It's totally consuming me and I don't think I'm able to fully enjoy her sweet newborn stage bc I'm literally thinking about this stupid jaundice/fearing her next test will show that her levels have gone up.</p> <p>She is so perfect and sweet and amazing and it is just breaking my heart that she's going through this:(</p> <p>Just a worried vent here. I cry every day but I guess that's not enough... </p>
