Open up the closet wall between Rooms 2 & 4 to make a closet/secret hideout. I have 2 boys close in age and they would love it!

Alternatively I would have the boys share room 3. Put the baby stuff in the currently empty room until they are ready to share.

Babies tend to have a lot more gear that may need storage, so I'd probably give the youngest one a bigger closet to stash all the stuff. Their clothes are smaller, but swings, bouncy seats, etc. all take up a lot of space.

Not sure which kid is where now, but I would give the girl the room close to you, boys get a little mini door in their closets to go back and forth in a little sneaky spot. They have some cool ones on Pinterest. Then it doesn’t matter who has the bigger one.

I would put the youngest closest to you, which as a bonus means everyone currently stays where they are. The two rooms on the right look they have similar hanging space just that one is technically a walk in.

@ALV91711: I agree with this! I would love to room share and have an extra room. We have more kids than bedrooms so we have to share but we are always talking about what we’d do with another room - playroom, office space, guest bed, etc.

Also on closets - especially at young ages I don’t think closets have to be used 1/kid. Like each kid’s room can have their “in use” stuff but kids with bigger closets can take storage or off season from other kids. And you can always supplement with something like an ikea wardrobe if more hanging space is needed down the road.

I would just keep DS1 where he is now, I’m probably stereotyping but I don’t think boys care about closets, especially since all the rooms are pretty much the same. Happy to hear that everything is going well with your pregnancy!

I’d have the baby in the room closest to you.

Or if you wanted to keep a room as a spare room I’d eventually put the two boys together in the biggest room and DD in the next biggest and have the smallest as the guest room.

Okay.. so I should have said that I meant this for long term. Baby is going to be with me in a PNP until at least 6 months when DS is out of the crib.

I’d leave DS1 in the room he is in. Less moving around and change before baby comes. I doubt any child would notice a difference in closet space until the teenage years so I’d say go with the least amount of switching!

i voted DS1 mostly because i would want the youngest closest to your door in case of nighttime wake ups, which looks like it means bedrom #2, and bonus that it seems like that would let the other 2 stay where they are?

also as an apartment dweller let me just say your floor plan looks so nice & spacious

The girl gets the bigger closet. For the two boys, I would generally say have the baby in the room closest to you, regardless of closet, but it sounds like the middle child is already in the room so I might just leave him there and put the baby in the third room, regardless of closet. I don’t think that many boys care that much about a walk in closet.

Found out that LO#3 is a boy (and no anomalies.. my first not being followed by MFM)! So I will have DD who is three years older than DS1. DS1 and DS2 will be 18 months apart. We have three bedrooms other than the master. Two have a walk in closet. Who gets the one without a walk in closet? The rooms are roughly equal sizes.
