My husband works at a publishing company and is always bringing home stuff, that we don't necessarily pick out. Recently I discovered one with a tiger on the cover is actually about the FOOD CHAIN. So that was awesome to discover that when my son picked it for his bedtime story. All the cute animals eating each other. And then there is one about this baby who has no parents, so he has to change his own diapers and make his own bottles, and then he finds some random to be his mom, and they find another random to be the dad? My dad's mom gave it to us, and it is the most condescending book with scary illustrations. An older couple that can't have kids find a bunch of miniature babies after a rain storm, grow to love them, a weasel or something tries to take them, and then the fairy comes back to get her kids but gives them a regular sized/human baby (if I remember correctly). </p> <p>I still love the book, but I'm betting my mom was glad I never questioned the infertility aspect or the part about why the fairy left her babies or where she got a human baby from?! Or that I never worried I'd be traded. In one story the guy mouse gets drunk from a bottle of beer he found. Then he gets picked on by some cats, and his wife(?) beats up the cats and takes him home and then vows to never drink again. That is just one of the 20 or so short stories. They are so french. One is called Sophie's Busy Day and it's awesome. Sophie has an alarm clock and wakes up early so she can clean the living room, pick apples, and go grocery shopping.
