p.s. not trying to start some kind of board war either, just explaining where I was going with my reply to her- merely that the ultra-careful mindset is understandable. i was not trying to moot any of your points. just to clarify.

@Pink Champagne: thank you, i do realize tylenol isn't the same as ibuprofen. The choice of painkiller wasn't the focus of my point and I should have expanded on it I guess, which is that I understand the mindset behind "not working, not eating spicy food" etc. due to trying to be careful not to affect implantation.

@MrsLilybugg: Tylenol is not the same as ibuprofen. Just wanted to clarify.
@cyneswith: I'm sorry that tylenol doesn't agree with you :( I would definitely give your doctor a call though to express your concerns and see if they have a recommendation for something to take if your headaches comes back. You might try a saline nasal rinse too to see if that helps clear anything up. Glad to hear that you're feeling better!!!

@Pink Champagne: I don't get along too well with Tylenol, or I'd take some. It's about the only "safe" pain reliever for TTC, and it just doesn't work for me except as a fever reducer. Aspirin (a key ingredient in Alkaseltzer Plus) is shown to increase the chance of miscarriage from O through early pregnancy, along with other NSAIDs. I'm a "drink til it's pink", spicy-food loving, workout til I can't kind of person. I'm also prone to every side effect under the sun, so I avoid medication when possible.

I self-"medicated" with healthy doses of cayenne in my food to clear out my sinuses, plus my husband's catch-all remedy of alcohol-and-OJ. It seems to have worked reasonably well. and my O symptoms got more promising too.

Thanks, all!

@cyneswith: awww, sorry you have a sinus headache! I know what you mean about being careful not to affect implantation. And while it's true that it IS possible to get BFP's (congrats to you ladies!!) while taking ibuprofin and drinking (I practice "drink til it's pink myself!") etc., I totally get trying to be careful "just in case". Sometimes, and especially if you're not sure whether or not you are dealing with infertility issues, sometimes these little things can tip the scale out of your favor, so being conscience of them is completely understandable cyneswith :)

I have to agree with @Pink Champagne, I actually drank the day before my BFP. I did everything as normal during TTC (including medicine, caffeine, drinking) and got preggers okay :) Don't make yourself suffer!! I'm suffering now at almost 8 weeks because I can't take anything and I want to live vicariously through your tylenol cold! LOL!

If it makes you feel better, pregnant women can take Tylenol, so I'm not sure why you couldn't take it while TTC.
Also, I didn't do ANYTHING differently while TTC (In fact, I'm pretty sure I had a Bloody Mary the morning of our successful "try") and so...yeah. I'm not sure where y'all are getting your information about TTC, but tylenol does not hurt your chances. Neither does spicy food. Or not working out.

I would think a relaxed, happy, sinus-headache free body would be a more welcoming environment than one that's all stressed out because they're scared to take anything.

And please, I've had sinus headaches, they hurt- call your doc if you don't believe me, but I'm pretty sure your OBGYN will tell you that you can go forth and take something for your headaches without harming any chance of conception.

Ugh, I know what you mean! I used to exclusively use Ibuprofen for everything (which I know isn't actually good for you, but it's just what my family always used). This last week I had THE WORST headache of my life and didn't know what to do! I ended up just laying in a dark room with wet towels on my head and neck because I was even afraid of taking tylenol!

When I know I'm in that potential implantation time (like now!) I really like to baby my lower half - no strenuous activity, no spicy foods, keeping my hips propped up when I'm at home (as if the fertilized egg would just fall out otherwise? Yeah, it sounds totally crazy!) Oh well, it will be worth it in the end, right?

I can't take anything for this blasted sinus headache! Alkaseltzer Plus is normally what helps, but I've been progressively more sniffly, tired, and achy this week, and I dare not take anything lest I prevent implantation or something. Also, a cold during O week sucks.
