I hate hearing that even when its not dealing with a birth or pregnancy. The "you used to be so skinny/so big thing" is ridiculous to me and extremely hurtful to the person receiving it. I personally don't even like the "you look so healthy now" comment. That's just me though! Maybe it doesn't bother others. I would say for me I also have gotten the "why is your baby yellow" comment too! Not only did I have an extremely tough pregnancy and long NICU stay to deal with, but she actually did the math wrong and I was only up 16lbs from my last visit. I’m very aware of the fact that I need to lose weight, but I don’t know many people who have lost all the baby weight in less than 3 months. That's no small feat early on. </p> <p>About two months after having my second baby, I was at the pharmacy to fill a birth control prescription...and the pharmacist stared hard at the prescription, looked me up and down a few times, then said, "You know, I really can't let you fill this since you're pregnant" as she pointed at my belly. I even had the baby with me! I mumbled something about being two months postpartum and tried to make some joke about how baby weight is harder to lose the second time around, thinking we could just move on quickly. She glanced at me again, and asked me if I was sure I wasn't pregnant (!!!) because I "really looked like it". I took my prescription back. I walked away without acknowledging the comment, because my husband worked there and I didn't want to make a scene. </p> <p>Another time, I'm going into the grocery store with my 9 week old. A man stops me in the parking lot and tells me I have a beautiful baby. I thank him and go to move into the store, but he keeps talking to me and says "You shouldn't let people kiss your baby. There was an 11 week old in the news that died from meningitis because the mom let someone kiss her baby". I said "oooh k?" then booked it into the store. </p>
