Thanks for the input ladies. The set in question looks pretty old so I'm thinking it may be expired. (can't find the print on the manufacturers site or local vendors)

I know when asking for history it's a matter of trust, but you can't really fib about exp date (since it's on the actual seat). I'm not an admin or of any position in the group to really post a reminder post and I haven't posted anything on the post, just wanted to ask & put the feelers out on the etiquette of such.

I think it's kind of pointless. You might just do a reminder post in general - maybe see if you can find an article about it and share it- reminding people to share the history/exp date when selling and to be sure to ask when buying. Commenting on peoples' posts when they're selling and you're NOT buying will just come off like you don't trust them and/or are being accusatory.

Something to keep in mind... when buying second hand from someone you don't know, you have NO way of knowing if they're being honest about the accident history at all. You have to go on trust and with strangers that's kind of iffy, so even asking can be pointless.

I'd ask only if I was buying.

I don't think it's terrible. I wouldn't do it on all listings. Maybe just those that look really questionable.

When I see car seats being sold on the second hand group for our area I always feel inclined to ask the history & exp date, even though I'm not interested in buying. I know people are going to buy used car seats & tbh we're going to sell ours (with the history & exp date info listed).. I just want people to be safe about it....

Would it be wrong to ask for that info on the post?
