No you are not being difficult. That is absolutely ridiculous. Those are all red flags! The director and the teachers doesn't even communicate, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out a 3 month old baby should be put in the infant room (room 1), needs 3+ naps and needs to go down whenever he/she goes down. Can you imagine what kind of crazy thing they can come up with as time goes by?

I would pull LO off and look for another daycare. Good daycares are out there. I hope you find your match... good luck!

Thank goodness. I just read this and was getting all hot and bothered. I'm SO glad they moved her to the right room!!

I do think it's awesome that they have a room that has designated nap times for the older babies. I do wish our daycare did that. Sounds like it's all working out for you. :)

I would not be happy about this, and the fact that they were only going to give a 3 month old 2 naps is scary to me! At 3 months they should be allowed to sleep when they want they are growing babies!

this would definitely bother me. mixed ages don't matter as much when babies are a little bit older and on 2 naps, but for a 3 month old infant that needs at least 3 naps a day, she should definitely be in an infant room.

@MungBean: Yeah, and they are walking, not just crawling. My friends daughter was in the room with my daughter during her trial day last week and I know for a fact that child is 1.5 years and 30+ lbs, so I was a unnerved by her walking around and laying on my baby.

I'd be livid. A three month old shouldn't be in the same room as crawlers - she could totally get hurt. Babies should be grouped at the same age. I would meet with the director and request that she be removed immed, not two weeks from now. IMO, this is a safety issue.

Sounds like there is a space and staffing issue that will not be resolved until two weeks. You may not be able to change that. Perhaps you can schedule a meeting with the director and teacher in the room your daughter is in. You can voice your safety and comfort concerns. Ask that the teacher to accommodate a 3 month old's schedule similiar to Room 1 babies for the two weeks you daughter has to stay in her room. If you really want to know, ask them why they accepted your baby in daycare if they could not accomodate her to per their gudielines.

THANK YOU all so much! So glad to know that I'm not overreacting. I'm not going to be the one to pick her up today, but I will go in tomorrow and talk to the director again and see if they can move her earlier. They didn't seem to think it was a big deal at all, but it bothered me and I'm glad to see that I'm not being unreasonable.

@mamabolt: Yeah, they told me that in the youngest infant room that each baby could eat and nap per his/her own schedule...but the teacher in her room today made it sound like she would nap with the others until I reminded them that she is only 3 months. The teacher then said that she wouldn't have to follow the others' nap schedule.

I would be livid. That is totally unacceptable in my opinion. She is only 3 months, and should be with babies her age! Why is your baby and the other baby the only ones who are not allowed in the "baby" room?? that makes no sense to me. I would call asap and demand that she be put in the baby room. it seems like the teachers and director are not communicating that well, but I guess I just dont understand why they would think to put her in room 3 anyways if she is not walking??

That is totally unacceptable to have bigger babies falling all over your 3 month old! And she NEEDS her 3 naps.... She is so tiny still! My LO is 6 months and still naps 3 times usually.

I would try to get them to move her into the infant room ASAP. I don't think you are being unreasonable at all. If they really cannot move her, at least they need to accommodate her nap schedule and assure you that they are keeping the bigger mobile babies away from her.

@78h2o: I think that is their fault and they should look at getting the staff needed to find a spot in Room1 immediately. They should be able to call in a sub or extra staff to meet the needs for the next two weeks. This is their mistake and they should deal with it not at the expense of your child. I would be worried taht its a safety issue with her being in the bigger room. Someone could step on her, she could find a piece of food on the floor, etc.
