Honestly my biggest reason to wait is because I think that will work easiest on my mom. She provides the majority of our childcare. LO is 2.5 now so we were going to try in about a year, which would put him in Pre-K 4 by the time we would need her to keep new baby !

But- he will start Pre-k 3 in August of next year. So I don't know if waiting would make THAT much difference!

We've been pretty torn on when to TTC but I've always been more on the side of waiting a bit more. DH would start now !

Yes, one deductible year for certain. I was just saying this to a co-worker that has EDD on 1/4. Personally, I'd be begging to get that baby in this year... but that's just me and I respect others who wouldn't.

That wouldn't change our plans, but I have to say I wish I investigated the costs more (well at all) before TTC. A health savings account would have come in handy right about now.

I agree with PP. It depends on what's "delaying" your TTC start date. If it just because it's a time in the future you're both comfortable with (no other reason), then I say why not! If it's financial reasons (like wanting to pay off certain things) or life obligations, then I'd wait or reconsider at least. Either way, good luck and that's awesome plan your work has going for you!

It depends on your reasons for waiting to ttc. If they are financial, maybe. I will say it's nice having a baby all in one financial year, so we only have to reach deductibles and out of pocket max once, but like @MamaG: it's a drop in the bucket compared to raising a kid. If you are jonesing to start anyway, then this could be the thing that pushes you over. :)

That's amazing! But not enough for me to change my plans if the time-line you set is what works for your life!

Nope, wouldn't change my plans. But then again, I have horrible insurance and I knew it was just part of the deal. I had great insurance when we started TTC #2 (DH's insurance). I lost that insurance and got pregnant 2 months later. It cost us more but it's such a small price in the cost of raising children.

Our plan would be to TTC around this time next year. I just found out in 2016 our insurance plan will cover all physician related costs at 100% (prenatal appointments, physician costs associated with delivery, etc) at no out of pocket cost to the patient. This doesn't include hospital fees, anesthesiologist, etc. but- still a nice perk

Now I am wondering if we should bump our plans up a bit in case they change it back to our normal plan in 2017. I don't see a reason why they would, but there is no way to know !

Thoughts ?
