In your case, I would be a little creeped out. It sounds as if he never really wanted to leave/sell the house, but was forced to.</p> <p>For us, the former owners were here a long time, and the husband was relocated to Canada. He actually works for the same company as my husband. We've gotten a few of his paychecks delivered to our house, and DH will interoffice them to him and email with him from time to time. He was super nice and gave us the low down on our neighbors. </p> <p>I do know that he and his wife were relocated back to where we live. If they stopped by and knocked, I'd gladly let them in and even show them around and what we've done with the house. They were an older couple and are seriously incredibly nice. </p> <p>I'd like to think that if my parents ever sold their house that I would drive by every once in a while to see it. My dad built the house and they were the only owners. (The negotiations over the final purchase price got pretty yucky, so we're not big fans of each other.) We bought our house from the daughter of the house's long-time owner. Her parents intended to sell the house and go RV-ing in their retirement. The husband had some health issues that caused them to quit RVing and buy a condo down the street. And the house had been on the market for a year when we finally did purhase it. The guy (who stopped by today) was approximately same age as hubs and had gone through a messy divorce with kids. Military marriage that didn't last. But by all accounts he was a recluse who was really strange after the divorce. So it's uber creepy that he shows up out of the blue and knocks on our door.
