My first instinct would be that they don't want the stuff because I did such a great job, but because they're lazy and cheap. It would bother me even more that it's a close friend because there would probably be guest list overlap. Our colors were pretty basic summery, so that wouldn't be a surprise either. And I'd be happy to let them use all the vases, etc. because I just want them gone!
