Depends on what the situation was and if we're close friends. And if they're a parent! haha

I always worry about this, because I'm the friend! I don't have kids(yet), but if I see my friends child(ren) doing something bad, I'm not going to sit there and watch it happen! It's just in my nature I guess!

ETA: I would never do anything other than tell them no or stop, etc. Then I go tell the parent(s) if they are around. Otherwise I wait until I see them and tell them then. :)

Speaking sternly? No. Swatting my child? I'd have a problem with it.

Only if there was swearing or swatting involved. I have one friend that will swear at her kids and has no problem spanking. I'd be upset if she did that to my kid :/

We plan to use non-punitive discipline/unconditional parenting, and NO ONE I know does that. So I wouldn't be okay with it simply because I know they'd be handling it in a way I'm not comfortable with.

I really have 2 friends. One I have no problem with them disciplining my kid and they don't have a problem with us disciplining their kid. We have very similiar parenting styles. The other friend I can't stand to discipline my child because they are just mean to their kid (yelling and screaming). And they have yelled at my other friends kid for such a minor offense (in her home).

I want my child to resepct any adult. So if my child isn't listening to an adult, I am ok with the adult correcting my child. Now I don't think that means give punishment or anything like that, but discipline sure.

I'd be upset if they yelled at, used physical discipline (like a swat or arm grab), or a time out. If I wasn't there, I'd say a time out is okay.

I would 100% want an adult to stop my child from doing something dangerous or tell him to stop being disrespectful & then let me know so we can use the consequences we see fit.

If they did it the way I did it, then I wouldn't mind. If they were out of line in what they said or the method of punishment, then is feel uneasy.

If it was a situation like art bee posted I would hope they would speak sternly to them. If it came to more than that and a time out was warranted, and I was downstairs, I think I would want the friend to bring Lo to me to set the punishment. But if they were babysitting we'd prob discuss discipline ahead of time.

Nope.. I can't always be there or see everything & I'd hate for my child to think they could "get away" with something just b/c I'm not there to see it.

Just a spin off of @Artbee's post!

I don't think i'd have any issues if a friend spoke sternly to my child, or scolded her for doing something bad. But i know a lot of parents feel they should be the one to do it.

Would you be upset/okay? When would it bother you?
