When Sawyer was younger and refusing to bottle feed I would absolutely have wanted someone to BF him if something happened to me where I couldn't (ie death or hospitalization). Now he is older and will take a sippy, so I would prefer he be given milk other ways. I would totally BF someone elses baby if I needed to for some reason.

I would, and I would accept it if needed, too. Funny how most people have responded that they would feed someone else's baby, but wouldn't allow their baby to be breastfeed by someone else.

I would. I wouldn't just randomly do it, but if there was a need I wouldn't have any qualms about it.

Funnily enough when LO was a newborn and I was struggling to get my milk in I quite often thought about how good it would have been to have a wet nurse so my poor baby wasn't starving hungry (I wasn't prepared to give formula for personal reasons)

I totally would breastfeed for a close friend or family and accept breastfeeding from a close friend or family if I was desperate (although I'd prefer pumped milk for bonding and emotional reasons)

I was in a situation where a relative's baby was having a terrible time with formula, crazy reflux, screaming her head off 24/7. I was still nursing DS and I remember thinking if they asked me, I totally would. Of course they didn't and I wouldn't have offered but it was a thought that crossed my mind. It was probably hormones, too, I felt so bad for her!
I wouldn't let someone else BF my LO for the reasons @zippylef mentioned. I was always super-careful of what I was eating and drinking, we're vegetarians, I didn't take anything more than a Tylenol when breastfeeding. I wouldn't trust anyone/everyone to be as mindful of what they were ingesting.

I guess I can imagine a situation where it would be necessary-- like, you are trapped in an elevator with someone else's baby or something like that?

I think I would, but like others said, it would have to be a more extreme situation. If pumping ends up being easy for me, I would pump and give the milk to a loved ones LO after I finished BFing my own, in theory. Yeah... it would have to be a really specific situation.

If there was absolutely no other alternative and it was a matter of life and death, yes. If I had another option, hell no. Disease and toxins and all manner of things are passed through breastmilk.

All I can think of is The Hand That Rocks the Cradle! Freaky!

Seriously though, I guess it would depend on if it was very easy for me to pump/breastfeed and who it was for/what was the situation. I guess I would for a sister or my best friend but I would probably pump rather than breastfeed. I might want the same for my baby if I couldn't bf but it would have to be close family or friend and pumping only.

I think it's a little odd, personally. However, I have heard of people doing this before. I probably only would if it was in a desperate need situation. Would you breastfeed someone elses baby or let someone else breastfeed yours?
