Cameras are very delicate, especially dslr's that I couldnt handle not knowing how it was handled. Make sure you can check the equipment out in person, and if you want to be really fancy you can look up how to get a shutter count from the specific camera you're considering. This is a count of how many photos the camera had taken, and a higher number can indicate that it's getting closer to the end of its useful life. That said, mine saw a lot of use before I got it and it's still going strong. I got it from an art student who was upgrading.
