Weird! If I didn't care too much about the wedding details and I already knew/considered that hotel, maaaybe. But I'd call the hotel and coordinator there to confirm all sorts of stuff before buying.

I think if I had checked it out before and been on the fence about it and then found a good deal I would consider it. Also, I think there are some people who just want a beautiful wedding and want it done with little input. I am totally not one of those people but over the years I have met a few so I can see how that would work for some people.

i would be too nervous about the hidden clauses/restrictions and potential lack of flexibility. although if i had been looking at that venue and was totally smitten and didn't care much about other details, i might.

I guess if it was legitimately a good deal I might have considered it - especially if I had already had my eye on it in the past but couldn't afford it. But it does seem somewhat crazy! I'd have too many questions - is the menu limited, what if I want more than 100 people, what is included, are they going to really give us everything they advertise, etc.?

This caught my eye in my local Gilt City email!

A wedding package at a really nice local hotel for 100 guests (venue, cocktail hour and dinner are included) for (gulp!) $35,000. It's a really beautiful venue and hotel and we actually looked into it when we were planning our wedding but ruled it out based on our budget. TBH, from what I remember, $35k is around how much it was going to cost so I don't think there are any/much savings from the retail price unless you get the 25% off Gilt City purchase (and it doesn't have a cap!)

Would you buy a wedding package off a flash sale site like that (if you weren't already married!)? Or to rephrase - would you have bought one? I would imagine someone being able to afford a $35k reception would want to check out the venue first!!!
