I'd only call out if I was sick, and if I did call out while not sick, 'd feel so guilty I wouldn't be able to enjoy my day off.

I would go to work then put soap in my eye right before the boss walked in the door and say "I hate to do this but I think I have pink eye and I dont want to infect you all before the holidays"

okay. I really hate working. I would rather clean my home.

Nope. Unless I was so sick I was dying, I would stick it out. Like others have said, I just think it's unprofessional and you never know who you're going to run across in the future occupationally.

@anonysquire: Yes, even if he will have that job for the rest of his life! Burning bridges professionally is always a bad idea, no matter what the circumstances.

I wouldn't do it.

However, I wouldn't be cleaning the house because HIS friend cleaned. I'd still make him do it, lol. Or owe me big time :P

Or maybe I wouldn't care, because boys are gross sometimes :)

@travelingbrit: Lol make his friend clean. I am sure he would love that. My husband gets off work at 10:30pm, and I leave for work at 10pm. So I'll have to sleep sometime during the day tomorrow so I wont be able to clean all day and my husbands friend will be here midnight. So I am not sure.

I would only call off if it was absolutely necessary (i.e. he's vomiting or really sick/you're really sick). You don't want to burn bridges, especially since you never know what could happen with this new job.

I agree with PP. Even if the job is terrible and you don't ever anticipate future encounters, I would do everything to not burn any bridges, as small as they may seem.

I guess it would depend on if I were dependent on the last two weeks paycheck or not. You never know what the company will do in turn (like let you go early) and I wouldn't want to take the chance if I needed the money.

Ok so my husband has been working with his current company for almost a year now. He just got an amazing job offer with a hefty raise, better health insurance, and 2 minutes from our house as opposed to 30-40. He has worked his butt off at his current job, working like 60 hrs a week and never really calling in except once with food poisioning, and our wedding day (Ya... don't get me started). Anyways, he has Thanksgiving and black friday off, and is putting in his 2 weeks notice today. Would you ever call in during your two weeks notice? I want him to call off tomorrow to help me clean the house for when his friend comes to stay for this weekend. Hes hesitant.

Oh and he doesn't need a reference for his current job for the new job. And this new job will be his career for the rest of his life unless he gets maimed or something.
