@PrincessBaby: as long as you can hear her well from her crib you should be fine. SIDS is not caused by choking on secretions or spit up. If a baby were to have that kind of event it would be assigned a different cause.

@Mrs. Jacks: ok thank you! I read that SIDS/suffocation highest risk age is 2-4 months so I'm like hyper paranoid that something will make her stop breathing while sleeping.

@PrincessBaby: they usually protect their airway pretty well! I'm not so sure about the teething, though it is a possibility. This is around the time when babies start making more secretions and learning how to swallow them, and sometimes it can be hard for them to manage, so that might be a factor.

Sounds like teething to me too. A lot of babies teeth for months before the first one pops through!

@PrincessBaby: excess drool can also cause vomiting because it can upset the pH balance in their tummies. And yeah, I thought C was too young for it too but she definitely proved me wrong! It was craziness.

@Mrs. Jacks: Thank you so much! Should I not worry about choking while sleeping if this is normal stuff?

ETA: I would be your worst nightmare FTM patient, lol!

K does the same thing especially fists in mouth. I chalked it up to teething because she is still her normal, happy self.

I would call the Ped if you noticed a change in behavior, but if not I'd say it's normal.

Sounds like pretty typical baby stuff. My rule of thumb is if they become more fussy, have a fever or stop eating then go ahead and call.

It sounds completely normal to me! The extra drool can definitely lead to spitting up. If she were vomiting, there would be force behind it. I'd call if it seems like that.

Sounds like shes started teething to me. C started at 2 months old with very similar symptoms, she had her first 2 teeth by 4 months.

I posted earlier about H having her fists in her mouth a lot lately (like right now!), and drooling a lot accompanied by a lot more spitting up. Today, she has spit up probably 8x. It's always white kind of thick looking milk combined with a lot of drool. In the other thread it seemed to be the train of thought that fists in mouth cause excess drool , excess drool causes spitup (full tummy)...

She is her normal chatty, giggling, smiling self...Still sticks her tongue out all the time (her fave game), so I know she feels fine...But should I call the Ped?

I kind of worry about choking! She chokes on drool/milk sometimes when she's nursing!
