Cow's milk! Thank God for formula, because some babies and moms need it! But I wouldn't give them my money if I didn't need to... I think follow-on formulas are 100% marketing. Just IMHO :)

Cow's milk. Formula is so expensive and tastes like cardboard (I accidentally tried some when I was making sure the sippy cup was working).

I would transition to cows milk. If you start at 12 months, I think two months is plenty of time for her to get used to the milk and to notice an intolerance.

I would transition her to cow's milk several times a day (at least with solid meals?) at 12 months so she's used to it by the 14 month mark. Wagon Jr. transitioned from formula to cow's milk without a problem, but the transition from breast milk to formula was HELL!!

Cow's milk.

Give it to her several weeks before you go on vacation to make sure she doesn't have any issues with it.

DS wouldn't go straight to cows milk from BM and the pediatrician mentioned that since BM is so sweet he's probably rejecting it by taste. I mixed in a spoonful of formula (figured the vitamins wouldn't hurt) and then a little less in each bottle until he would just drink straight milk. Took less than a week.

I am no expert on this,
But my hunch is that if she is still breastfeeding 3-4 times a day when you go on your trip, wouldn't suddenly switching to cows milk be a huge dip in calories?
She might not feel full (even if she is eating solids) if she is used to bfing so often. For that reason I would so formula, or a formula and milk mixture.

Eta: or maybe whole milk is as filling as formula? Im no help.

I'd do cows milk. After LO hit 12 months we went straight to cows milk and never turned back.

I would just go with cows milk. Formula is pretty nasty tasting, so I would think it would be easier to get her to drink the cows milk.

I would go with cows milk. Unless you plan to do a toddler formula then I would go with that. I have always gone to cows milk with my girls so I don't know much about the formula for older kids.

Okay, so Wonder Baby is breastfeed and has never had formula. I have the worlds tiniest freezer stash (seriously, there's maybe 10 oz in there) and I can't seem to pump anymore because my body adjusts to her needs so quickly.

In a couple months Mr SH and I are planning on going on our first weekend without the girls (ever!) for our 10 month anniversary, leaving them with my parents for three days. Wonder Baby will be nearly 14 months old but I'm sure she'll still be nursing 3-4 times a day. She's great with solids, but not weaned.

She can drink from a straw cup, so should I buy formula (which she has never had in her life) or just leave her whole cows milk (which she will presumably be drinking somewhat by then, as she'll be past the 12 month mark?)

I know it's still a couple months away, but I'm an overplanner. What would you do?
