If I didn't have kids I would but I had my fourth when I was 30 and tied my tubes so unless I am that 1% that has a failed ligation and get a big surprise I don't think I will be pregnant again.

I would have a child at 40 or after. I didn't get married until I was 36. We waited a year and the had IF trouble for 18 months so here I am pregnant at 39. We would like a second if everything works out, so I'd definitely be over 40 unless I stop at one. It might have been easier to have them young, but it wasn't in the cards.

No. I don't want to be pregnant in 8+ years, it's hard enough at 32. And I wouldn't want to be 50 with a 10-year-old.

I voted yes. It's not my preference but I had my first at 38 1/2 so if I want a second, the liklihood will be that it will come at 40 or later. Right now as much as my heart wants a second, I think we are holding steady at just the one.

As it is, I don't want my childbearing years to stretch from 24-40! I'd fully embrace any surprises that came my way, but still...I'd rather be concentrating on my oldest graduating HS at that point!

I'm healthy and if I was able I would see no reason not to if that was what I wanted. Age is only a number. I don't feel old or tired, so why should I act like it's something out of the question.

I would manditorily screen early for chromosomal abnormalities though. Trisomy 18 is pretty nasty.

I would say probably not. I want to be done by the time in 35, 37 if it takes longer & we continue to have problems conceiving. By the time I'm 30 if we still don't have children of our own we plan to start the adoption process. I want to adopt at least one child even if we have our own babies. That's a whole new thread though. Can you tell I've planned this out?

I totally would! My parents had 6, the last one when they were 41 (a suprise!), and I think my parents were still thrilled.

People live longer, work longer, are active longer. My little sister is 26 now, and my mom is 66 and still teaching full time. She wants to continue working another school year after this one. Honestly, my mom is so energetic (works full time, goes to the gym every morning before work, takes horseriding lessons, goes hiking...she doesn't seem like an older mom at all (and she had me at 36).

So I guess it depends on the individual. I have friends with much younger parents who have way more health issues and aren't active at all. So they probably wouldn't have been good older parents.
