I chickened out, though! </p> <p>My mom goes by a nickname for her given middle name (she dropped her given first name when she got married). My dad goes by his middle name, and my grandmother and all 7 of her siblings go/went by either middle names or initials! One of my uncles on that side also goes by a nickname for his middle name. My other grandmother goes by her middle name, and her daughter/my aunt didn't have a middle name until she got married, and moved her maiden name into the middle spot.
