I wouldn't drive that far, personally, unless it was family or maybe a really, really close friend. DH actually really wants to take DS to the zoo this summer but I don't want to do a drive that far for a day when there are other cool things a lot closer! (DS is not a fan of the car, though.)

We have a lot of family and friends within 30-90 minutes of us so we regularly drive that distance. I will say we had a family birthday party for my son that was about 1-1 1/2 hour drive for many people and we got A LOT of complaints!

Great info, thank you! This would be in June and I know it is totally dependent on the weather. We are lucky that she has an earlyish June birthday to allow for outdoor parties. We would only be inviting 3 children and their parents. 2 are close, one we plan on talking to about it beforehand to feel them out. We wouldn't just drop an invite in the cubby and run (this is a daycare friend).

Only for family or possibly a really close friend. Otherwise, probably not...only because I have three kids so I would probably need to find childcare for the other two.

We go to a zoo about an hour away for each of my LO's first birthday. We usually bring my parents/my sister and we drive them, pay for them, and take them out to dinner with us.

No- I couldn't deal being in the car with two kids for that long. I would only do it if the friend lived 1.5 hours away and it happened to be at a venue close to where they live.

We just went to a party a little over an hour away at a Children's museum (and yes, there are closer ones). It was for a friend we really don't see all that much but I was so happy we went! Maybe just make the time so kids can nap in the car there or home. This was late afternoon so LO2 took a short nap in his crib and continued in the car and LO2 slept the entire ride. They also sent us home with snacks which was a huge help.

It depends on who the party is for. If it's for a good friend (mine or DD's) or a family member than yes. If it was just for a casual friend then no.

That would basically mean a full day out, which is pretty rough on all of us! I would not, unless maybe she was quite a bit older (no need for a nap or diapers, more able to control her boredom in the car).

not unless it was a close friend, and even then I'd be annoyed. BUT I live in a major city with plenty of options that are close.
We were invited to a petting zoo party for one of the kids in our daycare room. We had only been in the room for 4 weeks, so I barely knew the girl and had never met the parents. It was 45 minutes away and during or normal nap time - we didn't go. The city zoo has a petting zoo area, and is much closer, but I guess more expensive? Not sure why they picked the place so far away
