She recently posted on Facebook about this and said that she's going to be applying for food stamps this week. She didn't do this in a dramatic way or anything, but was done to promote a side business that she has in an effort to bring in more income. I was thinking about sending them some gift cards in the mail anonymously. I don't think she would just accept help (hence trying to get more work for her business so she can earn the money), but I don't think she'd throw away/ refuse a gift card for gas, food, etc. Is this a really bad idea? We are in no way well off, but this would not impact our ability to pay bills or save. </p>
