i'd say no. supposedly, you make milk that's appropriate for the baby, so milk for a 2-month old is different than one for a 2-year old. i'd say stick with the cow's milk.

I've wondered about this too... It must be healthier than cows milk for sure.

@regberadaisy: sorry to thread jack, but there is hope. My sister had supply difficulties with her first two and had oversupply for her third. That kid is definitely healthy and eating enough. So it can happen.

I recommend she give it to her older son when she was pumping and dumping it when he was with him in the hospital. So it wasn't taking away from the other.

Hm not sure unless for some reason I had a oversupply with #2.
As it is we're supplementing so I doubt it!

I think using it as a reward is kind of weird but I don't see anything wrong with mixing it in with cows milk if I ever had an over supply.

@Mrs. Bee: @Mrs. Sunglasses: Yes my cousin had the same thing happen (they are about 20 months apart). Her son weaned when she was pregnant but started nursing again with the baby.

Lo still likes to comfort nurse (17 months). If she still wants it when baby boy arrives in December I'm planning on tandem nursing.
At least until she's 2 yrs old. She'll be 21 months when he's born.

I know a mom who occasionally gives it to all her kids (one is 9 years old). I've been trying to get my sister to give some to her son who has leukemia. It has so many antibodies I think it would be so good do him.

I don't see any issue in this, in fact Mrs. Bee has talked about how she gives Charlie some BM that she pumped for Olive.

I would just be more concerned about having enough for the new baby.

@Andrea: the girl was talking about it more like a reward/privilege rather than all the time. and it would only be pumped. My guess is they might not like it. hehe.

I was wondering the same thing for when the baby arrives. I wonder if DD would be interested to drink breastmilk again. I probably wouldn't want to start. What if she really likes it and keeps bugging me for more? Haha. I want to have enough for the baby.

I had someone ask the question whether it would be okay if she were to feed her toddler breastmilk (pumped) once her newborn arrives. Clearly the toddler is on cow's milk so she's wondering if it's too fatty or better?

Honestly, it's something that NEVER crossed my mind and my first response is no. but I never really put thought into it. To me, it would be going backwards...

thoughts?
