I would call and get the Rx, but wait another 24-48 hours to see how she did without them. That way you hVe them if needed.

@Foodnerd81: Ha, I actually walled @Jess1483: that when she wrote Friday even though I *knew* it was Thursday (as I thought it was Wednesday this morning and my husband corrected me), I still googled "what day is it today." Thanks, Google, for confirming that it is, in fact, Thursday.

To answer the question, I would maybe wait a day and then take her in tomorrow if she still has a fever. It sounds like she's on the end of things.

@Foodnerd81: And now I'm spreading all the confusion...

My in-laws come this weekend, and it's totally throwing my days of the week off...

Yep, I'd head back to the doctor. Ears can be a tricky thing.

I would wait and see how she is. My pediatrician said most ear infections are viral and need to run their course so they only recommend antibiotics if fever for 48 hours or severe pain. So since it's Friday, personally I would tey to get the prescription but wait to fill it. If she continues to be happy I would just ride t out, but if the fever continues or she seems to be in pain, fill it.

We are in a really similar situation- my 2.5 yo had a slight ear infection last week but no fever and was ok so the ped said wait it out. She hasn't had a fever but is cranky. Since she's already is antibiotics twice for ear infections i am hoping we won't need another round.

If it weren't Friday, I'd just hold off, but since it's Friday, I'd probably take her in to have her ears checked.

ETA: Oh good lord, I'm exhausted. It's apparently Thursday. I'd wait it out. Thanks to @LBee for not calling me out publicly ;)

I would have her checked out again. My kids have had varying symptoms with ear infections. My sons last ear infection his only symptom was a red puffy eye, no fever, no fussiness or anything but he has also had an ear infection with a fever up to 104. For me, I would rather err on the side of caution.

I would take her back in to look again. I wouldn't count on happier baby meaning the infection was gone. Both of my children have taken ear infections in stride with minimal crankiness. But I also wouldn't want to give antibiotics for no reason.

Since Sunday, LO (9 months) has had really goopy eyes, congestion, crankiness and has been shrieking when we lay her down (at night, for diaper changes). No fever. I took her to the doctor on Tuesday and she said it was viral but her ears looked a reddish so to call in if she got a fever and she'd prescribe antibiotics for an ear infection.

Since last night (Wed) LO has had a fever of 100-101, but her eyes have cleared up, she's been happier, and she's stopped crying when we lay her down. Eating fine.

Would you call for the antibiotics or assume the fever is just an evolution of the cold?
