I voted no because it looks like you are half way to the finish line already so don't turn back now. She'll have to give it up sooner or later so it seems like progress is just around the corner.

@BabyBoecksMom: No super helpful! She has several favorite stuffed animals in there with her. I am reading the no cry sleep book and trying to re-focus on our bedtime routine being consistent.

As I was sitting there rubbing her back tonight, I was realizing that this is kind of a philosophical difference between DH and I: he wants an immediate solution (give her a paci) and I want to look at the whole situation and try to improve the overall so that she can sleep on her own better. It is a different way to think about it at least...

@MamaCate: we have a pretty defined routine and she has a blanket, so that helps. After her bath, we let her pick 3 books, we read them while she's in her crib. We turn the lights off, tell her to lay down and turn on her music. We used to just walk out of the room, but now we sit in there for a minute while she stirs and gets situated. We also moved her bedtime back 30 min. It seemed to help her fall asleep w/o it if she was more tired.

ETA: sorry if that was too much info :-)

@MamaCate: does your LO have a blankie? We actually got rid of DS's binky cold turkey when he was 22 month or something but the dentist said it would actually help his underbite so we gave it back. However I noticed that he also loves rubbing the tags on his blankie at night when falling asleep so when we do finally get rid of the binky I think we have a suitable alternative..

@BabyBoecksMom: what are you doing now to help her learn to go to sleep? That is where we are kind of stuck...

I voted no because we're trying to wean DD of hers right now. We only gave it to her to help her fall asleep, but we found out it's messing with her teeth, so we have to cut it out. She takes forever to fall asleep without it, but I figure she will eventually learn to sooth herself again.

I voted no only because she's already uninterested in it so might as well try to wean her off of it now. But I'm useless because I don't have any other suggestions.

@Mrs. Yoyo: thanks for your input! I am tempted to try it while I try to find enough energy to read the no cry sleep for toddlers book. I am really trying to avoid CIO but this is not sustainable...

I may be in the minority, but I'd definitely try it if you think it may help. My LO is 28 months and I still give him one for sleep. We're in no hurry since he's going to have a baby bro soon and I don't want him to get jealous that baby gets one and he doesn't. I hope to kick the habit sometime next year.

Here is the situation: our 22 month old used to love her pacifier for sleeping. About 6 weeks ago she declared it was "yucky" and we took them all away. Around the same time she started resisting being rocked to sleep so we made the transition to falling asleep in her floor bed. I stay in there with her until she goes to sleep.

Initially it took her a little while to settle but I would often be out of there within 30 minutes. Lately it is taking 45-60 minutes of rubbing her back to go out. She has also been waking up at night and having a hard time settling back down. DH and I were up with her for 2+ hours last night.

We are out of ideas and he suggested bringing the pacifier back. I am hesitant but not sure what else to do.

Any advice?
