@MrsKoala: Thank you, that makes me feel better about the choice!

@Bookworm: Aw, Jen and Gwen - that's cute! I love your LO's name!

@aprk: Well I'm glad we wouldn't be the only ones with a bunch of A names in the family :)

@littlebittyhouse: Graeme is a great name! Thanks for the reassurance that similar names is ok!

My husband and I both have A names, and our son has the same name as his dad. They have different nicknames, though

I did on accident! My name is Jennifer, and LO's name is going to be Gwendolyn. So at first thought, not so similar, but then when you go by nicknames.... Jen & Gwen. Oh well! :D

If I liked the name but it was close to my SO's, I'd still use it! Why not? I think Alice sounds great with Alex and Ashley!

This is all hypothetical since I'm not pregnant, but my husband and I are always going round and round with baby names. We have pretty different styles, especially for girls. We have recently agreed on a name that we both really like - Alice. The only problem is that my husband's name is Alex... Alice and Alex? They sound like almost the same name!

On top of that, my name is Ashley. So that's just a lot of A names. (And my brother-in-law's name is Allen!). But, the more I think about it, the more I think it doesn't really matter and if we like the name, who cares if it sounds like Alex? Is that really weird? Would you ever choose a name that sounds a lot like your own, or your SO's?
