As someone who just had to miss an old friends wedding this weekend due to work commitments and flight schedules, if I could have made it work, I would have and I am 29w and have a 2.5 year old! Logistics might seem tough but get away and let DH take care of the kiddo! Pumping at 11 months shouldn't be a huge inconvenience!

GO!! I went to a wedding when J was only about 4 months old, and it was a little weird heading out to the car to pump every few hours - but we had so much fun and it was totally worth it.

@bushelandapeck: yay! I think you will be really glad you did. And there are lots of posts on here about traveling with breastmilk so look at those for more tips.

@JennyG: @Foodnerd81: Thanks for the tips! I called the hotel and they do have a fridge/freezer in every room so it shouldn't be a big deal. I think I'm going to do it!

@bushelandapeck: would you be flying? Get a good cooler and ice packs and carry it on with you. It's actually no big deal- I only flew once with breastmilk and I was all ready for trouble with the TSA but they were totally unfazed. The hotel should be able to give you a fridge to store it in, and there probably is a freezer for the ice packs, or maybe someone local could freeze then overnight for you before you leave.

I pumped at my sisters wedding in the bridal suite, with my one glass of wine at my side, bridesmaid dress folding down to my waist. Not my usual activity at a wedding but my other sisters ended upcoming up and it was fun.

@bushelandapeck: I had to travel for work when LO was 10 months old. I asked the hotel for a room with a refrigerator and kept all the milk I pumped the last two days. I bought some of those ice packs you break to activate and used them to travel back. I froze the milk as soon as I got home. So if you're only going for the weekend, save all the milk you pump, fly home with it on Sunday, and freeze it when you get home.

@Foodnerd81: The milk is my only hesitation...I think it would deplete ALL of my frozen milk (and I don't want to supplement) and I will still need to pump every 4-5 hours. How would I transport the milk home with me?

My only hesitation would be over the hassle of pumping enough for the weekend and while you are away, but I think it's totally doable and worth it. The first weekend away has to happen at some point and this is a great reason for it. You will be so happy to see her when you get home! And by 11 months she may be drinking less milk than you anticipate.

@MOMTOLITTLEB: She does take bottles, which is great. DH hasn't had her (or the two of them together) for very long, so I guess that's my worry? I'm sure he could do it, but I wonder how much I will be worrying!

I think it would be tough to take your DD but if your husband is happy to cover for you, you should go on your own! Does she take a bottle ok? Maybe it would be good timing to start getting away from the night feeds if you want to.

A very dear friend of mine is getting married over Labor Day weekend and I am undecided about whether or not to go. I need to decide ASAP! Help!

My friend lives across the country (2 hour time difference) and DD will be almost 11 months at the time of the wedding. She is still nursing and wakes 1-2x/night. I have never been away from her for longer than a few hours. I could take her with me, but I was worried about the time difference (wedding is 4pm MT and are on EST) and also about hard it would be to travel with her all day (no direct flights). I had decided it was too much and have already told my friend this. Now DH is adamant that I should go, that I never do anything for myself, and that he can take care of the kids. I'm so torn about whether or not I should go! I would still need to pump while I'm gone and it would be cutting it close with the amount of milk I have frozen. I would LOVE to see my friend though, and was really bummed thinking I would miss her big day.

What would you do?
