I wouldnt. My baby was terrible at night at 3months and I was so tired and sleep deprived by that point. I just wanted to be home within my comfort zone. For me 6 months is the earliest i would travel with a baby

Gosh...I wish I had all of your babies for those of you saying your 3 month olds were so easy!

Before having LO, I would have been all about this. Now that he's arrived and he's almost 6 months old, I couldn't imagine taking a trip at 3 months. LO was incredibly colicky early on. Meaning that if he wasn't sleeping, he was screaming. We were barely surviving car rides let alone plane rides!

Now that he's a little older, he's worlds better. I could see us doing this now at 6 months.

Totally! We are probably crazy, but we are taking baby to Venice for a week and then a cruise for a week when she will be about 3 1/2 months old. Not our idea, my parents really wanted to do this.
Everyone, including our doctors, have told us that is a really easy and good age to take baby places with us. However, your villa idea sounds waaay better than being stuck in a small hotel in Europe. Sounds delightful actually! But also, I'd keep expectations low. We have basically zero expectations about our trip being an actual "vacation."

We are going to the UK for 2 1/2 weeks when baby is 3 months old, and we live in Canada. So I'd say definitely do it! They are so portable at that age :)

It sounds like a dream. I probably shouldn't have voted, since I don't have my baby yet, but I just think getting away, while having so many of the conveniences of being home, sounds lovely...

Also, it's snowing here, again, and I want to go to a warm villa somewhere right this second.

I think I'm going to travel with a 3 month old too. My DH had to miss out on our annual trip to FL this year because he was saving vacation time (in the hopes we'd have a baby this year and we will!), so I'd really like us to go next year. Typically we would go in February or March and by then we should have a 3-3.5 month old.

I figure it'll be a nice time to travel because they won't be in the newborn stage any more, but they also won't be mobile (therefore not as restless on the plane as an older baby).

One thing I did learn recently though is that babies under 6 months can't wear sunscreen. So we'll have to be careful about sun exposure and clothing, etc.

Honestly at that age LO would only nap in her swing and was hard to take out bc she wouldn't nap anywhere else and would throw a fit almost every time we took her out. Maybe if my LO was more portable.. The other thing was just beig too tired..

My DH will probably not be able to take time off immediately following the birth of our baby. I will however have lots of family around to help, so will pretty much always have someone around in the first 2 months.

However, he should be able to have a week or two off when baby is around 3 months old. I am really looking forward to this and us being able to spend time as a threesome.

Part of me is thinking if we are just going to be at home looking after baby together why not do it somewhere more comfortable and warm.. Like a rented villa in Europe.

I live in London and so it would mean catching a flight. There are baby friendly villas that have some equipment and we would have to bring the rest.

Of course I wouldn't take baby out in the heat of the day etc. But part of me thinks it would be a nice chance for us to get out of the city. Not staying in a hotel means we could have the food and drinks we want and just spend the time in the villa, gardens, pool and nearby restaurants.

I won't have to book this before baby arrives and its just an idea. So I suppose I am wondering, would you have considered something like this?
