I've had friends post pics of them with babies at beer gardens and I've had a couple of friends post judgey status updates about how horrible parents who take their kids to beer gardens are. When I lived in NYC, I went to beer gardens a lot and there were always families there during the day on the weekend. It was pretty cool to see the parents feel comfortable to go out and socialize with their friends and bring their kids along. It was super family friendly and they even had a playground! In the German culture most people don't get trashed. They leave that to the foreigners. But I live in Portland, where eating and drinking and generally socializing with children out in public is absolutely normal. I haven't tried it yet, but were doing a big get together with friends the weekend of July 4th and we're throwing out the idea of at least hanging out at the beer garden. Would you judge? Personally, i think it's fine as long as you're not trashed beyond the capacity to take care of your kids.
