I got called alfalfa ears growing up and I cried over it a lot. I refused to wear my hear up or in a ponytail until I became an adult. I don't regret it at all and am so glad my parents let me do it before high school. I've never had a desire to have more plastic surgery or other cosmetic procedures. My parents never mentioned it as an option until I came home asking about it, but then they were very supportive and I'm so grateful for that! I have quite fine hair so my ears stuck through that and there was nothing I could do to hide them. There are so many insecurities girls have about their bodies as teenagers that you can't necessarily change and I'm so glad I was able to fix this one. To me it wasn't about giving in to the bullies, it was about me feeling better about myself. My uncle actually got his ears pinned back (I guess it runs in the family). I wish my ears did not stick out but whatevs...I lived. I think the real problem lies with the kids doing the bullying, and education and strategies need to be directed at that.
