@autumnlove: I'm pretty sure it's not teens... they tend to leave small toys behind as well. Today there was a car and a small stuffed bear.

That's a bigger bare patch than I see on our playground. But yeah kids move the woodchips around all the time and I'm not bothered by it. Sometimes I'll walk around kicking them back into place.
If I saw kids making that big of a bare patch I might say something while they were doing it but it's not something that would irk me all that much, I think kids just like playing in them.

@sarac: same.

If my kid did this, I'd have myself or dh come back and sweep it back to normal. I would not just leave it like that.
That's not nice at all.

I don't think that moving bark mulch around is a problem, but I would make an effort to put it back, in general. I'd probably bring a rake if my kid liked to do this, and we lived near by.

I am so annoyed. There is a small playground owned by our HOA across the street from our home. The surface is dirt covered by wood chips. Every night I've gone there, wood chips are scratched away exposing dirt and piled up randomly. Tonight was the worst I've seen - there were no piles up chips, but there were big patches of dirt plus branches and rocks on the equipment!

I think I know who is doing it, but I haven't caught them. Even if I did, what would I say? Am I right that this is rude, or does this fall under the realm of "just letting LO play?"
