A good school district was top on our list. It played into why some houses were crossed off our list. I would probably wait a little though before you start looking. It sounds great! To answer your question, yes we would move for better schools, but it wouldnt be the only factor. We live in Boston and a lot of the suburbs have top notch schools but we'd never move to them bc they are too remote/not diverse enough. One of the reasons we are in no rush to buy is that we'll have a better idea about schools once we have LOs. But we will absolutely do what it takes to be in a very good school district and will narrow our search that way first. The next district over has really excellent schools, though. It kinda stinks that we're so close to it but we can't afford houses there so we have no choice but to stick to the "pretty good" public schools for now. It its all about retirees here, which meanness education comes as a last priority. It is (from my understanding) a multi-age classroom set up based loosely on Waldorf/Montessori principles but is part of the public school system (publicly funded and meets provincial educational standards). The kids go four days a week and are home schooled on the fifth. It's much closer to what I would want for my kids and I'm kind of jealous of my brother for having that option (hopefully, she's not old enough yet) for his niece. Almost enough that I'd want to move... Probably I should just see if there's enough interest to start a program here. I mean, I do have 2.5 years before TG starts kindergarten. Would you move if you could get your child into a school you love?
