As it is, I hope they prefer me. Most of the jobs in his company deploy less. One of the ones that didn't deploy was even in a place he'd prefer with work he'd prefer, with equal pay, and he STILL wouldn't apply. If I'm going to be a single mom for months at a time because he's too lazy to submit a job application, I want to at least have the benefit of being my kids' favorite parent. ETA: That's a minor, grumpy sort of want. But it's there. On occasion it's so sweet when LO just wants me, and only settles down once I'm holding him. But I LOVE having the ability/freedom to take a break and hand him off to DH. It makes my life a lot easier. We've kinda gotten into a little schedule. I stay at home during the week with LO while DH works long hours (10am-10pm) Mon-wed, then 9-3 thurs. That is the start of our weekend, and DH takes him for most of the weekend, except for feedings. That way I have time to get stuff done, cleaning, cooking, errands, whatever and DH gets to make up time with LO. I love the way it works out. It is very difficult when the LO has a big mommy preference. It is much easier when mommy and daddy are kind of interchangeable. Charlie has preferred Mr. Bee since Olive came along, but when he gets sick, he does ask for mommy again. Olive on the other hand will be preferring mom for much longer. Be honest... which would you prefer?
