I was always quiet/wall flower so learning/experiencing the interview process and introduction of being on stage definitely has helped me in the long run. However, like @grizz:, losing was never fun nor easy. You work so hard practicing at home your routines for different outfits and your talent, it's absolutely heartbreaking when you don't win. My mom always said after each of my cry sessions when I lost, we'd quit, yet for some reason, I always got back up and did it again because I wanted to try again. We finally called it quits when I was about 13/14 because it did start getting more "glitzy" and some pageant systems were rigging the outcome to get newcomers to come back. As soon as I realized what was going on, I was inconsolable if I didn't win even if I got a runner up spot... in my head, it meant I wasn't good enough. I will never put any of our LOs in pageants due to my experiences.
