I don't function with little or bad sleep. So I'd MUCH rather deal with AF. :)

DD wakes twice (usually) to nurse but we co-bed so we are all pretty rested even with the wakings. If no AF is a perk of night nursing then I'm all for it! I don't plan of night training anytime soon... maybe after 18 months if she's still waking.

@Sammyfab: For me AF returned @ 7 months & I breastfed until 13, almost 14, months but she slept through the night early.

I would rather have a rested baby & deal with AF!

Now that I have figured out nursing while laying down, I have no problem with night wake ups! They used to drive me crazy, since I would have to sit up while nursing. Now I just bring him to bed and take him back when I wake up again. I absolutely hate AF, so I definitely would go with getting up at night.

I love the mini pill, Jolivette has been working great for me while breastfeeding.

Yes. Well, I've been on mini pill versions for years and never had an oopsie pregnancy on it. You do have a small window to take it in. They usually work for about 6-12 months, then i get enough breakthrough bleeding that my doctor switches me to another kind. I could switch to an estrogen based one around 6 months. I highly doubt i'll breastfeed or pump past that mark, anyways. We'll see how easy it is.

I might do the shot for a year. Kinda hard to mess that up.

@blackbird: the mini pill??

I've heard mixed reviews on it. I guess as far as birth control goes it's not very reliable...

But I suppose if it's because of your endo that pill is what matters, right?

That is so unfortunate :( I wish you didn't have to deal with that.

@coco bee, you can take progesterone/progestin hormonal birth controls while breastfeeding (American Academy of Pediatrics approved). There's also a shot version that I may go with, just for ease. My doc said don't even worry, there's lots of options for things to put me on.

@coco bee, it took me a few times to find something that worked. Some pills have made me sick. They'll have to put me on something...it's detrimental to my fertility for me to have cycles more than absolutely required :( And i end up taking stuff like vicodin for the pain, also not safe! I'll do anything to keep my period away!

@TurtleDoves: awww thank you so much. It means a lot :) It was long and drawn out, but I am glad we did it and I think it's key to be able to tell if baby is ready - and I think this was his prime time for sleep training. He responded well. He is just an awesome baby all around ;)

@Ali: haha! Well for the first several months obviously baby has to eat at night and so I didn't mind his night feedings because I knew he needed them. But babies have this nice little habit of waking/eating much more often than they actually need ;)

Also, I've heard from several mamas on here that AF is ten times worse post-pregnancy :(

Seriously though, I'd rather sleep through the night. Although the fact that I'm fertile is slightly terrifying.
